I know it's messy but I felt I needed to put the concept out on paper at least. Using a month old idea, inspired from reading the life of the last Prophet and how slaves and their former owners after converting to the same religion fought side by side in battle against a common enemy.

So this was the first thing that came to mind and I intend to stick to it, adding a few new additions and twists from the original idea to make it look more appealing to a general audience. The real challenge for me is to bring out the emotional side of this image but I may have to rely on my description in the end to bring it to light.

I'll leave it as it is for now, work on it once or twice a week since this isn't the only competition I'm entering this year. Thanks for looking. Crits welcome. And best of luck to the others participating.

I like your characters and their stances, very nice. But here's the problem; if you have to rely on a description for the viewer to know what's going on then your artwork has not succeeded. It's OK for the viewer to end up with a slightly different interpretation than you intended, but having to fall back on the description is not a good thing. At the moment I can't see the intent of your image even with the description.

The stances aren't fully confirmed actually, this sketch was simply to show the general situation the two characters will be in. My true intention for the image will come out eventually as I put more detail in (hopefully), I haven't even fully explained my intent yet, only what inspired me. What I'm actually going to be putting in the description will also need to be worked out some more but your words will definitely be put under consideration as I like to bend these little basic rules, walking between the lines of failure and success. So please bear with me, this is still the first concept sketch afterall.
