Man, I loved your first sketch! The contrast is great in all senses and the butterfly giving a final touch. Keep going and good luck!
03-23-2005, 09:39 PM
Fun concept! Good luck Pierrick!
03-23-2005, 10:39 PM
welcome to yet another contest dude , have fun !
03-23-2005, 11:32 PM
Hi dude! Nice seeing u there and my expectations r great! So bring it all :D About the idea, I think its great, but also have a suggestion for this theme... If the robots other leg would be up and there will be the danger of he steping on the little girl, who I know she's controling him. I hope I make some sense :) good luck with the challenge!
03-23-2005, 11:35 PM
The concept and the scene are very good. Congratulations!!
That scene, if worked, it can be very good. But she needs to increase details.
03-24-2005, 07:04 AM
MDN67 >> Thanks a lot !! Good luck to U too !
lhz >> Hey! Thanks too ! The butterfly just came at the end of my concept sketch... It just pop out of my head ... I decided to put it here to have a funny "diagonal"
>> light, innocence, and small - Huge, dangerous and heavy - Small cute and innocence ....
GaeasHerald >> Thanks man ! Good luck to you !
Squibbit >> Ho yess! I really will have fun !! Thanks
NinjaASSN >> Yes! It's just what i was thinking about at first, but it seemed to be soo horrible that i wanted to let a litlle chance for escaping to the lil girl !! Anyway, you have found my message !! > "If you think you have the control and you are a master, be carefull to you, you are not protected against some dangers ! "
lotaH >> Thanks about the concept !! Yess, it's just the first idea ... so a lot of details will came along my thread.
03-24-2005, 03:06 PM
Hi there! I have work on the lil'girl.
Just the line-art ...
I finally want to have a cartoonish style with realistic colours.
About the thema : "Don't play with power !"
03-24-2005, 03:12 PM
Great man! Remind me of my niece.
03-25-2005, 12:14 PM
some colours to find a good mood ...
wow awesome ! I like it a lot. nice composition and color. The character' design are very cute
03-25-2005, 12:30 PM
Hi Pierrick. This is looking lovely. You've got loads of character and personality into both of them with simple shapes and blocked in colour. I look forward to future stages! :)
03-25-2005, 12:38 PM
Nice idea, good colours. My taste would be to emphasise the disruption the robot is causing, with the little girl oblivious. Other characters diving out of the way, maybe a picnic table crushed in the background, that sort of thing.
03-25-2005, 12:49 PM
very good "comic' concept", i like the last coloring wip:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
03-25-2005, 01:01 PM
Extremely nice concept! You pick right color scheme for your thread. Good luck:  My Master and Servant (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=221933)
03-25-2005, 01:37 PM
The cartoonish style is lovely, and the bright colors are quite different from everything else I've seen. Well done :]
03-25-2005, 01:41 PM
Indeed Nice comic style,Pierrick!!!though I think the image could breath some more,it's got a little bit this claustrophobic feeling.
Maybe it could be nice to see some more nature and space around them on this beautiful and sunny day.
03-25-2005, 02:13 PM
aaahhh too cute :)
03-25-2005, 02:15 PM
yes funny idea, and nice style that fit to it.
Very promising :)
03-25-2005, 05:30 PM
great concept, great coloring, i'm not sure about the butterfly, maybe its placement or color is grabbing too much of my attention, adding some color to the robots face will work just as well to draw the viewers eye to the top of the image, overall this is looking really excellent, good luck
03-25-2005, 05:30 PM
This is going to look very nice
Good luck
03-26-2005, 04:43 PM
Really nice, I agree. I see that there is still a chance robot kicking that small girl, there is still a danger so Im satisfied ;) :P Its a joke. I really dont have much to crit at this stage, u r progressing very well. If u dont mean to keep it so clean with elements, u may try puting some ruins in the back robot just did.. I mean... the girl just did :)
Pic has some nice overall look with these colors! :bounce:
Spring is in the air!
03-26-2005, 09:24 PM
very good technic of coloring, me waits for the continuation
03-28-2005, 12:05 PM
Thanks for the good comments guys !!
Here is my line-art ...
Time for colours now !! Urgl ...
03-28-2005, 02:31 PM
More colours ... ^^
hey, great concept! Humorous stuff rocks.. keep with it!
03-28-2005, 02:51 PM
It's looking very nice. I especially like the strong lighting.
exceptionally nice..and the colors are wonderfullllll
03-28-2005, 03:06 PM
waou that's some fresh colors!! and the design of the little girl is soo cute^^
i'm waiting for the final picture, looks very promising!
03-28-2005, 08:56 PM
^^^ I agree, can't wait to see the final version of this. Those bright colours are great, the girl looks like she knows she's getting up to no good. Having the robot walk through her mums rose garden could of been a nice alternative to this.
03-28-2005, 09:55 PM
03-28-2005, 10:28 PM
wow, nice fresh colors and really nice warm feeling in the pic Pierrick!!Although I still find that the canvas could be opened up a bit more.
03-28-2005, 10:34 PM
Cute, very cute. And yet a bit disturbing. Not sure why but it feels a bit uneasy. Probably because a little girl is controlling a giant robot, how can this possibly not lead to some sort of havoc. Like the concept. The color and sketches look great so far!
03-29-2005, 07:38 AM
great saturated style man! Donno what else is coming but dont stup posting... Im waiting for some more textured brush strokes from u, by which u r known so well (at least for me :D)
03-29-2005, 02:07 PM
Thanks Guys !
Here is more details, more meaning and more colours ...
" Woohoo! You have blown your five candle !! Happy Birthday my ... SPROTCH !!" oO
Ok, Go back to work ... :/
03-29-2005, 02:26 PM
that's funny, the dude's arm coming from under the
robot's foot . Very nice pic, I like the colors alot
03-29-2005, 03:02 PM
Great work Pierrick. Love the colours. You've got a really good fell for painting light. And that's just a WIP? Looks Mint already!
03-29-2005, 03:08 PM
Superb and most funny :D The only thing is, that Im not sure where is the cake. Is it in the back? Or in the air coz robot kick it? But everything else is just great!
getting better! :applause:
03-29-2005, 04:07 PM
what a nice and funny mood :) same crit for the cake as Ninjassn though.
I think you should put it on the foreground, and perhaps the father was eating it while he was crashed.
03-29-2005, 04:42 PM
Funny idea, Pierrick. Would be cool to see some people behind the robot who were enjoying the cake until Daddy got squooshed. Evil little girl to squoosh Daddy and smile. The butterfly might look better down by Daddy's hand so it draws the viewer's eye and we don't miss it. The bow on the robot is classic. Like the girl couldn't wait to unwrap it.
03-29-2005, 04:55 PM
Oh my, I can't decide what makes me laugh more, the image, or that little snippet of text. :D But wow, the colours, they are what really made me stop and stare, I usually go fora darker realistic approach, but damn, you command the screen with light like that. And just blocked in roughly too. Cripes. I'd echo the sentiment on the cake, it does seem like it's floating a little, especially as the light is so strong, the colouring seems a bit vivid if it's in the background, perhaps fading it out just a little, without loosing those gorgeous primary colours too much? But man, everything else is just priceless, from the girl's facial expression to the heavy graceless plod of the robot. Great work.
03-29-2005, 05:13 PM
Now I know why it looked disturbing! Love the arm. Great colors, it is looking good. Where is the rest of the parent/arm character? Is part of it stuck to the robots shoe?
03-30-2005, 03:00 AM
I love it- the color, the technique, especially the girls face. Nothing else to say, except keep it up!
03-30-2005, 04:25 AM
great concept and colours man~ thumbs up~ ~cheers~
03-30-2005, 06:21 AM
Hahaha... this is great!! I can't believe i'd missed it until now!!
The lighting is just perfect, and i like the bold mark-making. But the subject, and the birthday cake and the arm sticking out from under the foot is all splendid!! Good WiP!!
I'll look forward to seeing it finished...
03-30-2005, 09:47 AM
This is fantastic... a crack up! I wouldnt mind a present like that. - jez
04-01-2005, 09:54 PM
hahaha, glad i found this (its my first evening trying to get trough all the works here... sigh, so many pieces missed yet) your work is soooo funny, hahahaha, really like your spring-feelings.
looking forward to your next update, have fun and goodluck!
04-01-2005, 11:54 PM
04-02-2005, 12:02 AM
comin along nicely:D
04-02-2005, 03:11 PM
More elements and more details ...
Really glad you like it !! ^^
Time to sharpened my pic !!
04-02-2005, 03:21 PM
Pierrick, I love your vibrant colors. It really looks like spring. I would suggest two things: 1. The stones you see behind the arm are a bit distracting, so you can't make out so clearly what the robot is stepping on. 2. The two characters in the back could be further away. At the moment I think they are competing too much with the foreground characters. Just a hint.
Holy crap! :) This is my kind of image! really cool cartoony style you have. Love thoose high saturated colors! I'll make sure to subscribe to this thread and check out your progress! Keep it up!
04-02-2005, 04:36 PM
I love the vibrants colors too...
really great funny styled sketch :D
can't wait the end...
I love the way you turned out the composition , with the parents behind... nice nice man :)
*cool de voir que tu progresse vite @+++
et vive la team F2D et les fr :)
04-02-2005, 04:49 PM
Oh man, I couldnt help but giggle to myself for a few minutes when I saw your entry.:D Awesome concept. Definitely love the mischevious little girl and your colors are outstanding. The squooshed guy's arm pointing just adds so much humor to this image. Excellent work!
04-02-2005, 04:54 PM
WOW! this stuff is AMAAAAZZZZING! Love your style and you have the most wonderfully brilliant colours chosen for this piece. I'm keepin' my eye on this one, Cheers!
my 2D entry:
04-02-2005, 06:44 PM
Hi Pierrick, I agree with Andreas that the footsteps are a little distracting, I know they're necessary, so maybe if you make them as if the robot was comming from the left, they wouldn't compete so much with the arm. It would help the perspective also, i think (i suppose that the robot's walking down a hill, but at the moment it looks a bit odd).
Anyway, the colors are excellent, and there is a sense of coherence in the picture which makes it funnier every time one discovers the litlle details here and there.
04-02-2005, 06:50 PM
That is wonderful. The lighting is close to perfect. I'd got for some big white puffy clouds aswell.
04-02-2005, 08:16 PM
I definitely like this one!!! :buttrock:
04-02-2005, 10:38 PM
Whoa! Great style. I'll watch you closely, gotta love those colours. :)
04-02-2005, 10:45 PM
One of the best pieces in this challenge.
Keep it up ! ;)
04-03-2005, 02:31 PM
What a great idea and awesome colours, this is truely a fun image :applause:
04-05-2005, 11:24 AM
Thanks for all your precious comments.
I have tried to correct some elements...
The footstep like that shows a kind of crazy robot... a bit more fun!
04-05-2005, 11:40 AM
Oh man, this image just makes me grin like a loonatic whenever I see it. The changes you've made have definitely helped. And I love the footsteps, it gives me a wonderful moving image of what happen prior to this still, I can just imagine the clunky, clumsy steps of the robot! I have nothing to crit on it, everything's looking juuust dandy. Damn, there is so much fantastic art in this competition, I don't envy the judges!
04-05-2005, 01:27 PM
Very nice. I like the expressions of the people on the blanket.
04-05-2005, 01:29 PM
I love your great and fresh comic stile!
04-05-2005, 02:59 PM
Great job! Those footsteps don't bother at all now, and they make the piece funnier.
04-05-2005, 03:27 PM
very humorous. i like that. but is the girl going to get kicked in the head after another couple of steps?
04-05-2005, 03:34 PM
far out! this is a wholesome piece of eye candy.. its amazing how you can render lighting so well. LOVE IT
04-05-2005, 04:08 PM
This a great and fun image, I have one piece of criticism for you that I haven't seen in your thread (although I may have missed it). I think the foot that's in the air coming right at the viewer doesn't read as well as it might. Since the leg is entirely hidden and the sole of the foot is almost parallel to the "camera" it looks like a box attached to the robot's foot. I suggest showing either some knee, or maybe if you showed the opposing hand and arm more clearly it would accentuate the marching quality of his pose.
That said, it's still one of my favorites!
04-07-2005, 01:09 AM
ı likei it so much ...realy ...funny ...
04-07-2005, 01:46 AM
My first LOL in this challenge!http://www.acay.com.au/~waylie/rofl.gif
04-07-2005, 03:15 AM
I'd have to say, that the laugh I got was so spontaneous I realised that it was genuine...I love the piece(beautiful colouring details and poses)...very funny...
04-07-2005, 05:32 AM
I love it! Great concept, and even better execution. Is the bot missing his left arm? One suggestion that might be cute, put the girl in the same pose as the robot...so she's not only controlling him, but also miming the pose herself. Look forward to seeing more :)
04-07-2005, 05:43 AM
i like the way you work with the brushes. its fantastic!
04-07-2005, 03:08 PM
Now, i'm playing with details and reflection !! I think it is my favorite step !! It's quit long but i really enjoy to sharp my picture ... Some highlight here, some reflexion there ... more realistic !
04-07-2005, 03:12 PM
This piece is soo cool! The little girl is very cute too! I really like the way you are going with this. The colour looks amazing too! Can't wait to see this finished.
04-07-2005, 03:14 PM
This is looking lovely Pierrick, and so much character! And strange as it is, I love the light on the outstretched foot of the Robot! In fact ALL the lighting! Woohoo!
04-08-2005, 08:47 AM
The reflection is looking really good. Just noticed the crumpled plans in the fathers hand, nice touch!
04-08-2005, 08:57 AM
I love the light and colour in this piece - it really jumps out at you. I can imagine it as CGI because it's very dimentional.
I'm interested to see how far you will go with any detailing and refinement, as it already looks great with it's graphic and sketchy styling. I guess a more refined picture may be necessary in this instance (for the contest).
Great work! :)
04-08-2005, 09:09 AM
dude, u know how to use ur colours:arteest:
04-15-2005, 02:08 PM
Here is more details and a try with some colours modification and a kind of halo and frame ... just for try ... It dosn't seems too bad for me.
Good luck everybody !
04-15-2005, 02:10 PM
Nice to see you back ^^ I tought myself "is he dead? oO"
anyway love the way it turns out :) great !!
*F2D team powa
04-16-2005, 09:04 AM
Cute lil girl with a cut LIL toy...
I like the refreshing joy of colors used with the composition.
Illustration style and use of colors -- amazing.
04-21-2005, 03:47 PM
Hum !! Here is more details ...
anyway, i will wait some days before posting the final version.
Good luck everybody !
04-21-2005, 04:24 PM
What a humorous scene, Pierrick!
My crit would be that the white glows/shines are a bit too much and does not fit very well with the overall style.
04-21-2005, 04:27 PM
i agree w/ jeromoo, also if you could move the mom on the other side, jst a thought...besides that evrything is really cool & funny, i like it...
04-21-2005, 08:04 PM
This is really great. No crits man...just great :applause:
04-22-2005, 12:33 PM
This works really cool. Very classic but so efficient and funny.
My only crits would be the glow that is too strong on some parts of the robots. There seems to be no justification of it.
04-23-2005, 09:14 PM
Hmm, I'm not really sure how the strong highlights fit with the rest of the picture. They just take off from the cuteness of the image. Apart from that it looks quite nice. :)
04-23-2005, 10:27 PM
Hi pierrick, this work is hot, so hot that make me feel like summer is already here (italy)!
I mean that the way you paint the scene its so realistic that I can figure the HOT temperature.
Congratulation the situation is fun and so the characters design.

Nice illustration P-Rik!
Looks really cool!
05-08-2005, 05:36 PM
gee i loved your technique! it looks so warm to the eye! Though i can't explain but my eye is looking for some... contrast? hmm perhaps some more dark areas? i really can't name it but it looks real good, sweet colors.
05-12-2005, 12:37 PM
Final... glups !! Good luck everybody ... And thank you very much for all that comments! :)
See U next challenge ! ^^

Lovely piece, you've got my vote !
This image is one of the most fun in my opinion. You really know how to paint that bounced lighting.
05-21-2005, 04:59 PM
hahaha, wonderfull. it always was a refreshing and very funny piece, and you brought it to such a masterly final! congratulations and best of luck on the final!!!
