 Hi guys....i was shading my scene in slim, next day when i opened the scene file my palette was missing, i know there's a save palette option, but i've worked on lot's of files where i didn't save the palette and got it back, can any one tell why this happened, why i couldn't get the palette for that sc alone? is there any way to retrieve my shaders becoz i almost finished shading that set, i've only the .slo files in my folder now.....!!!

You should always save your palettes. The theory is that they are instanced in the maya scene file, BUT it is not always trustworthy.

Some things to try before you start a new palette:

Open maya, load the MTOR plugin BEFORE you open your scene. If you open your maya scene before you load the MTOR plugin, your palette will not appear.

If the palette doesn't pop up on opening, double check by going to RenderMan -> Slim -> show palettes to make sure they are not hiding somewhere

Like I said, it is always wise to save your palattes not only for different versions of your palette so you if you made a mistake, you can go back a step instead of just using the only version, but also they can be handy down the road if you need a specific setup on some other project.

Good luck and let me know if what I said worked or not...

Hi scott..thanks a lot, i've already started saving palette's since i lost that one, anyways thanks for guiding me becoz i think i might've not loaded the MTOR plugin while opening the scene file, that was a point i never considered before. Thank u!
