View Full Version : Is there a way to place objects/splines where i want
pygoh 03-23-2005, 01:50 AM Hi, just a quick question. Is there a way to tell c4d not to place object/spline at the origin by default. For example, when i'm working on a large architectural model and if i need to draw a rectangle on a wall away from the origin, can i interactively draw it wherever i want.
Hope it makes sense. Thanks.

You can make a construction grid thing, place it on the wall, enable snapping to grid,
and just draw the spline on there.
As for creating new primitives,I don't think there is a way to place them anywhere but world center at creation.
Well,I forgot about the Alt Key modifier for creating stuff in >R9.
If you use that to place something as a child of another object,
it will inherit the position of the parent object.
Other than that I think you pretty much just have to place it after you've made it.

you can draw with the standard spline tools, and for premade objects you can set them to come up in the view center (as opposed to world center) from the preferences->document settings.

Another option is to draw it wherever, then use the Transfer function.

Go to -preferences -Document and enable "create new object inview center"
