After /much/ deliberation upon subject matter for this contest, I finally settled upon one of my initial ideas. This fellow has an appetite to match his girth - as evidenced by the long line of \\\"waitresses\\\" hefting various delicacies toward their master. Another group of servants diligently clean up, toting away bones and shells, scavenging what edible scraps they find for their own paltry meals. (Naturally, I\\\'m going to post sketches of the aforementioned servants... but I wanted to handle this in stages.. and layers.)

Just blocking my shadows (and some lights) and adding in a little background. I\'m going to lay in the servants soon in both the foreground and (a little) in the background.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input. :) And yeah, I'm going to get a move on to finish this up.

I like your idea. How about making its gut even bigger? Make it montrously gluttonous. Does this monster eat its servants too?

Occasionally, perhaps. ;)
Seriously though, he does need to be bigger, yeah. I'll probably do that in the next update, Sunny. Thanks. :)

I wasn\\\'t feeling entirely passionate about the project I\\\'d started... and came upon a more dynamic idea.
More to be posted later, but here\\\'s the basic jist...
The Dragon Lord stands, aloof and confident as his loyal samurai approaches with news from the battlefield. At the Lord\\\'s side sits a jade statue of a lion...
Or /is/ it a statue?

I just sort of jumped into painting this, so this stage will have to suffice for my line art. I\'ve been working on blocking shadows and light... and developing both a bit.
