Latest Update: Modeling: Servant Head

Been slacking a bit due to deadlines at work. Feeling strong and ready to finish up this project now. Here's the Head for my Servant Character. I'll be tweaking this and modeling the hands of both characters tommorow.

This is my horrible concept sketch. I want to do a sort of Dr. Frankienstien scene, where the creation serves the master. The idea will be a scene of the two of them in the Dr's Lab. I know the sketch is poor, but In the time it would take me to sketch it (very slow) I can model alot of it.

Here is the start of the wheelchair. I'm wanting to get that mad scientist feel with the scene. I want the wheelchair to look antique, but reflect the science and technology of the Dr.

ha ha. I showed the image to a friend at work and he had the same response. (Nightmare before Christmas) I love that movie. I'll have to check it out again.

very good idea
but try not to copy many elements as i am sure many people wouldnt like to see that
but for exampla the lack of straight lines and 90° edges, the pale colors and so on would work very well in your picture

Here's some progress on the wheelchair. I'm added more elements to it and it's starting to take shape. I want to knock this and the other scene elements out, while I'm trying to get accustomed to using z-brush for my characters. I'll need alot of time for those...so hopefully I can finish the scene soon.

I've never saw the "Nightmare Before Cristhmas", maybe because, here in Brazil,
this movie ins't so famous!

gui_mends: your english is fine :)

HillbillyKing: love your design! your really managed to create a creepy looking chair !
i escpecially like that thing with the green liquid in it
it is just so typical that it looks very stylized
hope you know what i mean :( hard to express. it is like something that one would really miss if it wouldnt be there
i looking forward to see your progress :)

gui_mends:
Thanks.

Phynix:
I think I know what you mean about the green fluid. That's just for reference right now, but I'm glad you mentioned it. You're right "Green" seems to always be the classic fluid color. I don't want to use Red since I'm trying to avoid blood in the scene. I'll try several different fluid colors and see what works.

Now this looks interesting, nice lateral thinking, and nice modeling too. Good luck. :)

I think I'm pretty much finished with the wheelchair. There will be little touches to do later, once I get the character sitting in it.
I've added the arm and foot rests to the chair. I also added some curvature to the backrest.
I'm now going to focus on the character creation.

This is my first crack at working with z-brush. Any tips, tricks or critiques are very welcome. This will be the head of my "Master" character (if my scene continues the way I'd planned). He will be sitting in the wheel chair.
I want him to be a very elderly man. Rather disturbingly old.
I'm watching the Gnome videos, trying to catch some knowledge on the subject.

Still watching z-brush videos and working on my "Master" character. Took some time to add a couple objects to my scene.

Making some progress with the Master's head. Still very early in the model. Hope to get it pretty much done by the end of the weekend.

As always, any critiques welcome.

Hi again Eric, I like the overall shape for this character, I think he needs some smoother tranitions all round tho, like smoothing out the area where his face becomes his lips etc to give a slightly more natural appearance

Keep it coming mate:thumbsup:

Thanks for the comments, every bit helps. Here's an update on the Master's Head. Little more detail and his overal shape is getting better. Haven't gotten to wrinkels and lines in the face yet.

After looking at this image I think his neck is too narrow, and the bridge of the nose looks weird to me. I need to really spend some time looking at some good reference and try to fix these features.

I can't wait to see you put it all together. I like the angle of the compositon. I think the body language will be key in making it work.
