Latest Update: Concept Sketch: Conceptual Work

Here's a look at the conceptual ideas I've been playing with. I've decided to look at a bold purple/yellow colour scheme with the purple surrounding the demon(s?) and the faltering yellow surrounding their former master.

Right now, I'm focusing on the summoner, looking at different ideas for her costume and posture. I definitely want the costume to be very regal, detailed and structured but torn from her recent battle. The posture, I'm debating between a straight back and a sense of proud resignment or a cowering figure who is still trying desperately to defend herself.

I've also played a bit with the colour and skin tones, more to get myself familiar with the feel of the image than anything else but I'm still really happy with her face in the coloured picture.

As far as the new master goes, I can't decide what I'm going to do at all. The hopelessness of the summoner's situation would be amplified if all the hordes of hell are after her, but the relationship is the most imporatnt thing and that could be easier to portray with a single (sufficiently scary ;P)demon.

So that's how it's coming. All comments/suggestions/critiques are very welcome!

Here's to such an inspiring challenge topic! :applause:

My concept: the delicate balance of power in a master/servant relationship and how quickly (in some circumstances) the tables can be turned. At the moment, I'm planning on illustrating this with a fantasy bend - a magician summoning a demon too strong for her at the moment she realises her mastery is lost and she resigns herself to her fate.

Why "she", you may ask? I'm looking to challenge myself in this with lighting, mood, and emotion. I think this will be easiest if I keep the characters feminine as I am most comfortable drawing female characters.

Like everyone else...the colors are awesome. I like your idea as well. In the one color drawing I don't see the tear from her eye, it may just be my monitor being stupid but if it's not there I just wanted to say that I liked it in the other drawing and it almost symbolized her lost resignation. Anyway I like the hair flow as well. Keep going.
