Interesting, reinds me of how cgtalk looked a few years ago. Only in color scheme though. I am glad that the site has been redone, havent had much tiome to investigate. I do have some problems navigating though, the sidebar doesn't seem to work properly in firefox at least. All the pop-outs stay out. Little more work and it will be fine i am sure. These guys have been giving so much time and effort to the cg community I really hope that this is a successful launch.

Whats with the pot shots?

As for the site itself, there are a few things they still needed to work out, but they wanted to have something up for the users to use, so the site isn't completely finished yet. I am sure that they are planning to work the menu issues. I have found issues with the menus staying open myself, although, I am finding that I am navigating through more of the site and doing it quicker than on most forums.

There is no other site on the planet that offers more valuable content

It was good for beginners who had never touched a program like Maya in their life.

What's your problem Randuin? You were one of the biggest fanboys on the site, it was just ridiculous. When Buzz came to Vancouver I think you actually had an orgasm because you could meet him. And now you take cheap, childish potshots at him AND the site? Grow up little kid, you're not better than any of the 3dbuzz people, so don't act like you are.

EDIT: Besides, if you dislike 3dbuzz so much now, why do you still come over and act like a real idiot on the boards and in the IRC channel? Leave the site be and use "the rest of the internet" to get your 3D education. You act like you're too good for all of us, but you spam the forums, say really inappropriate things to a moderator and act like a big loser in the IRC channel. If you're really that awesome, stand back and laugh at us "n00bs who only get basic 3D education" and stay away. Stay away from threads like this because we're not worthy of your replies Mr. Randuin. Don't talk to Demondo on MSN because he's also not worthy. Act like the bigshot you think you are and leave us puny, tiny 3D wannabe's in our little utopia we call 3Dbuzz.com.

Okay first off read whats about your posting window:

Be courteous and polite. Show respect to the opinions and feelings of others. Use of the forums is a privilege, not a right.
Engage your brain before your mouth. You are responsible for your own words and any harm they may cause.
Now i dont know anywhere that offers that much free training in such a wide variety of programs for free... ;)
The forums work awsome i can say, even in firefox which is all i use. They already stated that they would rather bring the forums back up now, and work out small problems along the way than letting the community be on hold... so dont hold small bugs (And color scheme) against them atm. Changes take time, but it's an awsome change already ...

So im asking please stop flaming in any way... can only end bad...

Hey randuin, remember me, dont know it was quite some time ago, how ya been?

I think 3dbuzz is more than valid to release 3d content, i know you have met jason, and im sure you know what content he is capable of releasing. And lately he has been doing just that.

I know alot of people say its good for beginners, and it really is, i was a beginner who knew nothing about 3d, 3dbuzz changed that. It does make me laugh when its onlybeginner content, still trying to get my head around the Maya API lessons and some of the Houdini lessons, i still need to work on. :)

At the moment, Jason is getting online course up and going, for experienced users, i have seen a sneak peak of the class, and its stuf i have never seen before (btw ive been using maya for 2 1/2 years so i know how most things get done, i may not be able to do them all myself, i have a fair idea) :).

I know you say "Have you not heard about the rest of the internet?", but i dont know where you wil get...wait i can never get the exact number of hours of content, must be like a 100 hours or something :). I dont know any other site that does that. Or maybe im easily pleased, wheres my 20 hours of content :)

I know you might have bad feelings about 3dbuzz randiun, im not sure how things ended, once i thought you used to be a friend of jason, sounded like that on the old radio shows, you couldnt be happier to meet him.

Guess things change, hope your not too bitter about things.

take care.

Hi Randuin,

I remember you. We met at SIGGRAPH. You were the biggest Jason Busby fanboy in the whole entourage. It was kinda' scary, actually. Since you're trying to pass yourself off as an upstanding Better Than the Mere Mortals Around You type of person, I thought I'd do you a little favor and fill this community in on why you were banned in the first place, and why you don't really like us anymore. :)

You see, folks, we found out that little Randuin here was illegally distributing all kinds of stuff, and using 3D Buzz's system as a way to peddle his wares (or warez, if you prefer). Among other things, he was pushing an electronic copy of Mark Wilkins's fabulous book MEL Scripting for Maya Animators (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1558608419/qid=1111569203/sr=8-2/ref=pd_csp_2/002-6634461-2587217?v=glance&s=books&n=507846), not to mention Jason's book Mastering the Art of Production with 3ds max 4 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0766834700/qid=1111569896/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-6634461-2587217?v=glance&s=books), most of the exclusive Member Sponsor content from 3dbuzz.com, and several training videos from The Gnomon Workshop. He apparently bragged about it so much that several members of our community brought it to our attention, and in return he was banned.

To put it bluntly, little Randuin is a thief.

Anyway, some time later, Randuin promised to behave himself, and Jason (that's Buzz to most of you folks) had a change of heart, allowing Randuin back into the 3D Buzz community. Apparently, though, he couldn't quite keep his promise to stay well-mannered, and was again banned by one of our trusted moderators.

Since then, Randuin has had a little problem with 3D Buzz, and seems to think that making second grade level insults about our content is a really good way to show how cool he is. Of course, this doesn't bother us much; frankly, we'd rather thieves not like us. I would, however, like to warn the members of this community that he's not really the kind of person who can be trusted (most thieves aren't), and he seems to be prone to turn on you like a snake. Don't let that last part scare you too much, though; his idea of turning on you is decidedly less painful and far less mature than, say, your average seven-year-old's tremper-tantrum (his posts within this thread alone have illustrated this far beyond my ability to demonstrate).

So you may listen to his drivel if you like, but do so at the risk of losing precious IQ points.

Sincerely,

I'm not going to deny anything I did, because that's just stupid. But just on the Art of Production book... I'm not quite sure how I could have been distributing something I haven't even seen physically.

But please, continue to make personal attacks, I'm learning alot as to what you guys know and think about me. (Because I care) May be if you make enough stabs at me, the rest of the world will forget how they've wasted 5 hours downloading a video on making spheres.

Feel free to refresh my memory back to 2 years ago. If you feel that's what you should spend your time doing, Chief of Operations.

I somehow find it ironic that you are the one to talk about making personal stabs at someone or something when you did nothing else than badmouth 3dbuzz every chance you got ever since you got banned.

And you were quite the big fan of those sphere-making-videos before you screwed up...

Let's just not listen to guys like him. That's the internet.

I love Buzz, since he makes it easy for beginners to get into the big, complex 3d world. He helps other people learning new stuff - that's good enough for me.

gotta go make a sphere, ill be back in five hours to check this thread.

These aren't personal attacks, mate. They're facts. Anyway, don't worry about troubling me; you're doing a fine job of proving my point without me having to make any special effort.

5 hours of making spheres... that's priceless. Yes, that's why we've partnered with companies such as Alias and Side Effects Software. That's brilliant, Randuin. Just brilliant.

You guys see what I'm talking about? :)

I recommend we just let him have his moment. I'm sure he'll feel better when it's all over. But please, let's end this. Randuin, we all see the extent of your capablities (tongue-in-cheek), but let's not dirty up CGTalk's forums any longer, eh?

Personally I liked the old one better, (not saying this new one is bad, I still like it), but this new one, I can see what your trying to acheive, and it will most likely pull more people into the forums, always a good thing!

Nice work dude, you guys go tme up to speed in Maya in no time!

Don't worry about it.
Stupidity really doesn't translate well, but I can assure you his comments were no more meaningful, or valid, in English.

The new 3D Buzz site is much more efficient and it looks great. Jason, Zak and Logan have busted their asses to make the community what it is, and as a member, I really appreciate it.
There will always be ney-sayers and those who want to detract from the accomplishments of others... but as I have said in the past...

If you think you can do better... stop talking about it, and do it.

If all you bring to the table is complaints, criticisms and conjecture, you don't have anything I want or need.
When you have created a community that is thousands strong, a custom (and revolutionary) learning application, hundreds of hours of free VTM content (covering a variety of applications) and a couple of highly regarded books...THEN you will be in a position to critique the job they have done, with knowledge and experience on your side.
And not a moment sooner.

We have a thread in the lounge over at 3dbuzz where you can submit your own color schemes. The ones that work best will be added to the forum so users can pick the one they like best. So if you post it there, Buzz and co will see and maybe at it to the list.

You know, I've been trying to find that 5 hour VTM about sphere creation for hours, and I can't find a thing. All I've come up with is IK/FK rigging in Maya, MEL scripting, about 10 hours worth of VTMs on the new release of MotionBuilder, some C++ classes, and a lot more... maybe it's buried somewhere in all the tons of free content, and I simply can't spot it...

Anyway.

I like the look of the new site, and the functionality. It's still a work in progress, but it's a darn fine start IMO.
