View Full Version : avi with alpha channel to animated gif

I have avi with alpha channel, I want to make animated gif with no background. So I can use it in powerpoint.
I don't know what kind of program that I should buy, and where?
How do I use it?

as i understand it is impossible to have an .avi with an alpha channel but depending on how big the .avi is you could load it into premiere, export it as a series of bitmaps and load it into photoshop or gif construction set. I prefer gif construction set it is possible that premiere has an eport to .gif function but i havent used premiere for that sort of thing so i wouldnt know. in the past when i hasve wanted to make an animated .gif i colour the drawings in photoshop and expoer the entire animation from photoshop to .gif before adjusting the transparent colour using gif construction set
of course it is is just a still then you could try .pngs instead.
you don't need to use alphas...you just need to make the background color a color that isn't in the actual motion and then you can remove the bg color in ps and use imageready to export to gif.

that means i should process them frame to frame and compile them in imageready? is there any trial version of imageready? once again thanks guys
