Lately, when I've been working in Maya, after I been working a while the title bars stop redrawing properly and go kinda transparent, then the windows stop redrawing properly.

One time when this happened I tried to save and it said "Error: not enough quota to perform action", or words to that effect.

Last time I was just bringing AOL up in the background after it started and AOL told me "insufficient memory to draw suchandsucha bitmap". Now I know I've got enough RAM, and sure enough when I open up task manager I can see I've got 700MB free!

Can anyone think what's going on?

EDIT: (thinking it might be the video drivers, installed latest detonators, so still waiting to see what happens)

i was having very weird viewport artifacts, and the visor window kept screwing up, turned out it was windows xp's themes...

i switched to windows classic theme.. and voala.. works just as well as Win2k :)

should have said: I'm using win2k!

I haven't had any problems since I installed the new detonators, but then I haven't worked on it for that long so far: we'll have to wait and see!

What video card are you using and how much vram is on it? That error sounds like it doesnt have enough video memory, not system memory.

Asus V8420 (GF4 Ti4200) with 128MB! Should be enough, no? I have got a lot of hi-res textures tho...I think 6 2048 square and 2 1024 square. I can't remember if I was using hardware texturing tho...I do know that they were all on High Quality display. You could well be right beaker, thanks! I'll turn the texture display quality down and see if that helps!
