To have a little idea of electro-dom appliances placement...

Next step... maybe texturing the stones in the background... before adding Humano-IDs...

alexfalchi -> Thanks Alex... I was a little afraid by the number, and also the small size of all these appliances with a render in low resolution, but I'm really satisfief finally... that's easily visible.

manikantkujur -> :scream: ... it's my nature...

flaeticia -> I'm discovered... you're right cocotte...

grooshka -> you're right, it's also a real actual problem for us... we must think to that all days

Gunilla -> For the moment, I'm at work... that permit me to think to that... and for the moment, I'm no totally decided of the aspect of these graffitis...
3 solutions...
1) real one, as we can see on the city's wall... certainly the good choice... of the vestiges of our civilization, of our city... that's totally ok with the symbol...
2) or iconic, as pictograms, cleanliness, recycling... but we leave a little of the topic master and servant... and it's certainly less artistic...
3) I don't find for the moment... I've think to a kind of graffiti, stylizer... of flower and nature element... but it's a bit blurry in my mind... I must think that these blocks are in the background and doesn't require too much details...
Then dear, you ask me that... you have some graffitis picture ???

3dRaven

Great work on the compo of the appliances thay fit in nicely to the enviroment

Good gosh is that a clone I see of a washing machine ...how dare you ;)

Gunilla
04-27-2005, 10:22 AM
Number 3 appeals the strongest to me. As if someone making Graffiti art of something long gone... poetic.
Perhaps you could use some kids drawings? That could make the impression that the flowers would be drawn by someone who only heard stories about them... just a thought of course

Don't have any graffiti pics right now, but can look for some :wavey:

Lemog
04-27-2005, 10:23 AM
shtl -> Thanks mate... I hope that this concept, in it globality can agree to you... finally, there's many trees in this challenge... I hope that this concept and the global mood give something very different...
Et j'essaye de ne pas oublier le rendu final... permettant de voir la vie en rose... (non... je n'ai pas encore pris mes petites pillules... j'attends la fin du challenge :scream: )

Elendil le Superbe -> and you know why there's a warm feel... only because each screen's pictures of the 17 televisions have a little bit of glow... only :)

Lemog
04-27-2005, 10:27 AM
Good gosh is that a clone I see of a washing machine ...how dare you ;)
Good eyes my friend... I apologize... 2 times the same one... I see that only when the render finish... it's doesn't a matter... that's will be less visible with all humano-ID in the scene... and like that... you can said that Lemog do some mistake in his picture :scream: hahahaha

And if it's not very visible at final, baaaahhh, it's not the first I do something invisible... :scream: hahahaha

You can laughing... I'm laughing too... cause finally this idea of kids drawings is very good...

and also a blend of the 3 ideas... "kids - iconic - graffitis"... "an all in one stone"

I will do immediately a rapid test in the same time I'm eating... before going to work... in 5 or 10 minutes... I'm sure to have an exemple to show :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Maxko -> thanks mate... I like this lighting too, but I don't think to keep it exactly like that for the final scene... I hope to find something a bit more dramatic... for the moment, that give a merry environment, not exactly the goal... Thanks for your words

jdsb -> :beer:

le_pou -> Merci mon grand ami de continuer à suivre cette réalisation, qui semble m'accaparer un peu trop... :argh:

alexfalchi -> Colors are a bit too much for me... but it's good to set up pieces together... that must change after... in the final way. :wip:

bealobo -> Yes bea... I like so much to have lot of matter to see in my scene... I don't know why... maybe to oblige the spectator to rest a more long time to sse the picture :scream: In fact... I don't know, but I'm so happy you like... it's essential for me

atra -> As I said previously to Maxko, I don't think for the moment if I keep this lighting set up for the final picture, I prefer something more dramatic... but maybe I can obtain that with the same method, I will do some test nearly, and for sure, I give all explication for this setup... I don't htink that a tutorial will be necessary, because in fact it's not very complicated...

It still missed an image of the 16th television because I awaited an image which did not arrive.
Then, as my great friend Jeff send me another belgium photos, I've decided to use one of them... to finish this series. And now it's ok.
This photo have a good mood for the last television, with this belgium tree which seem a little bit to Mother Nature...
And if you wath hard, you can see juste below the tree, a bath... certainly to wash the nature. hahahahaha
Thanks Jeff for this good picture ;-)

Stones are in place... all drawings are not very visible, but it's not really the goal... goal is to have a background with a wall of blocks... and maybe, for the final scene, I add depth of field... I will see.

I think MDN67 wil be happy, there's a view of all parts in the scene...

Only a little bit more of 20 Humano-ID's in the scene... more will come soon.

Next work to do... finalize textures of these Humano-IDs... They need a better contrats...

I do another tests this evening... I will try to build a specific shader, a blend between procedural and textures. I hope a better result.

I love the creature clinging in the fridge - is he looking for more beer?

It is a little bit busy right now, but I'm sure you have plans for fixing that. Are you going to use any DOF? It might be worth a try.

• Hey Lemog....Where is my gamecube?
Looking pretty good Lemog, lot of work u have done and great, I only feel too many elements can make the picture a little bit heavy, you will have to look for the right angle to compensate weights and color without loosing the main concept, of course, though any crit I can make, at the end i know u are going to do a great piece of art :arteest:

• By the way, i have seen you in every thread I have visit and i like that, you sure deserve the comunity award this time! for your great comments and partnership, you may be a little nut, but sure u are a great guy and artist! Vive la France!

It begins to be really really sympatic !

As you said the image must be more readable, there is a lot of elements ... What about making a larger plan of the scene ...or rotate the camera to the left...like seeing the mother nature in front of us and adding more depth for the garbages... just some ideas... but i know you will fix it well ;)

I know that, in fact I like a lot that the spectator can understand, apprecite with his particulary feeling... for me, a picture is not the only property of the creator... but also the property of him. Why can you said ? I'm sure you're ok with me if say you that the Art can exist only cheer the spectator eyes. Then, I respect a lot the thinking of him... and I'm so much happy if each spectator can interpretate which he see with his own feeling... it's his right. Maybe it's the reason of the many stories or messages in this picture.

I love the creature clinging in the fridge - is he looking for more beer?
If this guy is a bit like me... certainly !

It is a little bit busy right now, but I'm sure you have plans for fixing that. Are you going to use any DOF? It might be worth a try.
Yes for the DOF, I planed to use it...
and also... to test differents procedural shaders... very diifferent, to obtain a sort of contrast between each group of elements. It's a little a challenge for me, cause I'm not sure of the result... the small world in my head have a certain appearance, not always easy to transcreive that in ou sceneries...

I'm still very honoured to be in your scene, even if I'm covered by a Humano-ID :wise:
The most important is to know that they are that sort of details in the scene... it's also the reason of this WIP... to keep some memories...

(and for the Humano-ID, I will try to speak him for you ;) )

Well... it's a bit long... thanks to take time here, thanks for your comments, thank to do some efforts to understand me.. :scream: hahahahahaha

T'as vérifié qu'il restait plus de bière à l'intérieur au moins ;)

• Hey Lemog....Where is my gamecube?
Looking pretty good Lemog, lot of work u have done and great, I only feel too many elements can make the picture a little bit heavy, you will have to look for the right angle to compensate weights and color without loosing the main concept, of course, though any crit I can make, at the end i know u are going to do a great piece of art :arteest:

As I said before, I must focus my work that this picture was not too much heavy for the eyes... you know that now, much details are my way... and the other way is to find the good manner of making that more lighter...

To compare, this is the previous aspect of Humano-ID's textures... my main problain is to have a better contrats between them, the environment and also Mother Nature... to change that, I do many test of blend procedural/textures... see the next picture for the result.

Lemog

This is the result... I think it's really better... we must imagine that actually, Mother Nature don't have her final texture. More contrast is very needed between Humano-IDs and her.
I think to keep this way actually.
I will do another render of parts of the scene now... certainly I post tomorow morning.

alexfalchi -> good question Alex... no global illumination... I think GI very interesting to enriched a simple scene or to have a really result very fast. Few reason to don't use GI in this scene and to give my choice for the Basic Maya Renderer.
- It's more easy to keep a total control on each part and each light of the scene.
- On a big scene, render time is too much long on my old computer :scream:
- And the result agree me for the moment :)

Virtuoso -> for sure mate... always testing, tweaking and experimenting... that will be even truer, at the time of the final image calculation in very high resolutions, where all the defects will be visible, and which it will perhaps be necessary to re-examine many adjustments. I think to keep these Humano-ID's shaders... and adjust them at the end. Thanks Michael.

You're absolutely right on this - and I think one of the things to learn about making images is letting go of the final result, but also keep a part strictly for yourself. Perhaps I'm not so clear here but I guess you know what I mean.
and isn't it also partly what makes it so fun to do images here? Not only will the final result be between the creator and spectator but the whole process... a lot of stuff happens on the way.

:scream: I just realised I had to go back four pages in this huge thread to find this quote of yours... amazing!

On todays updates - I believe strongly in the new shader for the humanoIDs. The iriscident, falloff effects makes them slightly magic in contrast to the trash and (soon to come) wood. Excellent! The positions and feelings they provoke is beginning to take shape very strongly - this will indeed be one of your best work :bounce:

I think that with these number of details it's impossible to 'show' everything in just one shot. no. unfortunately. you are exceeding out of ordinary picture scheme. that's why it looks so well. ffffiouu! j'en ai des frissons dans le dos!
Terrific! VERY EVOCATIVE! Ain't that the purpose of a good image?

I do love so much the "la vie en rose" render for hundrer of personnal motive (Jean Lagarrigue and Push Pin Studio illustrations  with a much more actual design:thumbsup::thumbsup: with a touch of poetry. no?), but this last one is SOOOOO much more powerfull, it truly serve well your purpose, desesperate and dark, with a feel af crazyness and hysteria in the humanoids...and mother nature in top of it.... And one more time the concept of the screens plus the fact the pictures came from CGt users make it a very enthusiastic entry.
Plus your differents cam shot in each update make this like more cool t follow.

bon courage avec cette énnorme scène, mais au final ça va etre une image gigantesque !

Hey!! This composite is very good!!
Comgratulations, my friend!!

Humans in the base of the drawing. Mother nature on a side. And city (done destroy?) in the other, to the background. That tripod can surrender a great image. Winner!!! :bounce: :bounce:

As we spoke here in my city: That was already!

I am sorry, but none of the characters are really a "human", but cartoony-creatures with strange form. That may drop you out of contest. Some "poors" has even unnatural bends that cannot be done in real life. Most realistic human is a "mother tree" which also is not a human (for obvious reasons).

Nice stuff indeed..just tweak something to more "human".

Thanks for the fog... I don't planed that for the final image, but now, maybe... If you like... there's certainly a reason...
.

Well, I think what I like about it is that it makes the setting less friendly, like wet morning chill. It made me feel more sorry for them which might be good?
Looking forward to the DOF test, I think that should do the trick ... :wip:

Just a little test with DOF for the background... especially to see the aspect of stones...

I think to keep that sort of DOF + the fog of the previous picture.

Now... I can start quietly Mother Nature texturing... ;-)

......................pwallin....You have every right to you're opinion of course........But I dissagree.......I see these Human Id's very much as humans......for the most part they are very much......"Symbolic" of humans......and carry with them a real human touch......a surreal look and style of course....but very much human........

pwallin -> In first, thanks to take time for comments... you thinks Humano-IDs are not really human... I agree with you but only because they don't have an habitual design... they're certainly more human, in the realization manner, that you can think... It's a choice of realisation... I made them modeling around I skeleton I've create... in a unique goal, to have a sort of race whithout interest other these electro-domestic appliances... no female, no male... only a certain number of human race representant... I hope you understand that...
As you said, you have watching this other principal subject in the picture, and you find Mother Nature more human... she represant certainly better the humanity... and for sure, humans and human race... she's the Mother.
I don't really think to be out of the subject and the rules... it's not for sure a litteral interpretation... we will see...
Thanks mate

Gunilla -> "less friendly" ? certainly... and that give a mood a bit more heavy and dramatic...

Tremoside -> Oh man... I reassure you... your words don't make me laughing... it's only an honnor to read that... I'm a little bit proud, that there's some peoples, and better, some artiste say me good words like that... Thakn you so much Mark, really touching.

[wr]JeFf -> For this challenge, I don't change at all the starting concept... and it's certainly better with this manner... I have a vision in my head... and for the moment, I'm very near of this vision.. I'm happy then...

jdsb -> tsss tsss tsss

SuperXCM -> Merci ami... à la tienne... c'est le week-end, alors on en profite...

Climax -> finish line ? mmmh, I think remain me the most important to do... in first : finishing Mother Nature textures... and the Final Mood... remaining details for the background and the vegetation... finally, remaining time appear very short... but you know that...

goktug -> Thanks a lot mate

AlexFalchi -> Strong ? I don't really know... but impassioned... that's sure

Arlutik -> hihi... not really a long time you know, it's not the more longer in this scene... but little time + little time + little time... a lot of little elements give finally much time...

Virtuoso -> good resume Michael... you have understant really well the subject... all parts of symbolic things... symbolic human, symbolic tree, for a symbolic concept, with many symbolic subjects... Thank you a lot my friend, for your always good words for me... That's give the power to try to do better than the better.

Cipher -> You're totally right Séb... there's a lot Humano-IDs in the scene... and in action... if I can have a feel of motion, that will be very better...

Elendil le Sympa -> J'espère bien Nico... merci d'être toujours présent.

Wandddo -> Thanks Evandro.

First test for the body...
I do many test with something more bark... but bark is to dry for me... too dry for a Mother Nature... She's a tree... but also something organic.

And then, I've changing my texturing way.

Again I've planed with procedural shader... with always same tones that the previous tests...

I think it's certainly the good way.

Ahahaha.... thanks a lot Maja... but for the 2 pictures... it's the same... I know... lights are very hard... and made for the final picture... with different angles, result can be different...

But you're right, I don't want something to much dry... and for sure, tones will be more darker in the complete scene, under shadows of the other elements, branches, leaves, lianas...

For Mother Nature... this is a procedural shader done in Maya... I think the Maya's hypershade is very practicle to create all sort of shader... very impassionnating and interesting... but for her face... for sure, I need to create a map in photoshop, but to keep the same design that the rest of her, I must blend this map with procedural... :arteest:

Je pense que tu n'as rien à m'envier... tu as surement moins d'expérience que moi en 3d, but when I see your 2d capabilities... I'm really sure about one thing... you're a very good and talentuous artist. Seeya Mate and thanks a lot for your comments :wavey:

Before continuing, I must occupy me of connection between the head and the body... not simple with this 2 differents shaders...

...if I have a problem, I would put a collar or a branch in front of the connection. ;-) hahahahaha

Just got an idea. Some times gardeners spline different branches together to get new types of plants how about a link like this?? You could link it with some light green wood (fresh).

Like braids or a kind of hairstyle ? I don't think that's possible, it should be thought that I must still add all the leaves, which are already in position...
...that makes me think that I must texture them :bounce:

Very good expression on her - the way she nail you with her eyes. To bad she wouldn't be seen close up.
Every morning it's a pleasure to see what you've been up to - do you get any sleep at all?

Please, just continue like this :)

You're right Martin... I do other test with green or brown... but for the moment, not better... I think to wait all elements are in the scene to do more test, in better lighting situation...
I must certainly change these eyes but also eyebrows.
Thanks for remarks man

e-maje -> Oh thanks mate... you know what is the most important... the experience... and when I see what I did a few years ago, that makes me cold in the back :scream:

3dRaven -> my grandfather liked much to garden, but me, I hate that, and moreover, I have allergies. It is well the first time that I garden so a long time, thanks to this challenge :bounce: hahaha

overcontrast -> cartoonish ? I don't know if it's the good word... unreal, certainly... but as I say often, our images exist only by the eyes which look at them, your opinion is very important for me.
But don't be afraid by the number fo things, appliances, machineries... the most easy and faster for me is the modeling...
...I'm not good for all, but modeling, I think of doing it rather quickly :D

ilusiondigital -> The only thing I can say, it's that wood don't seem to wood in general... but you can find a lot of sort of bark, with much several aspect, and certainly you must find very odd... but the problem is not here. It's moreover a personal choice.
I've planed to keep the previous tone aspect... but more tree, and with something of organic. That give us many parameters to respect.
My first tries are more close of bark... I do many tests... but bark don't give me easily an organice mood. Then, what you see is the result of many tests, and at first view, many people like that...
For sure, we don't think "reality"... A woman tree doesn't exist... For Humano-IDs is the same thing... We must do abstraction in this case.
I hope you understand my point of view.
But Mother Nature is not finish for sure... all is always possible, I must integrate her with the rest of the scene, and certainly do some adjustments... we will see.
In any case, great thanks to you guy... your advice is very important, we see our work too much time to have the retreat necessary to an impartial perception :buttrock:

Well... all parts are together...

That's need some modifications I think...
- leaves are too clear compared to the remainder,
- body need a bit of more contrast,
- I must do other texture test for her face
- fingers and hands must be more clear to have good contrast with the rest of the scene.

I just see that for the moment, but certainly more when all parts will be together.
