Fabian Hernandez has entered the Master and Servant 2D.

Challenge Page (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/masterandservant/view_entries.php?challenger=5828)

Latest Update: Line Art: mistress and beast / lineart
http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/8/5828/5828_1113734646_medium.jpg (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/8/5828/5828_1113734646_large.jpg)

Sorry for the long pause, but I had a lot of other things to mind for, and probably I won't have much time for this in the future neighter...

Well, this is the lineart for now. I think the camera should really be much lower... so maybe there'll be another lineart... but probably I won't have time. As for the comp., I don't like having much free space on the left of the image. If the canvas ends right were the pointing finger is, then the viewer get's curious about what there is outside of the canvas.
As for the robe, changing the winddirection would change the mood entirely. I must agree that it has some advantages but... yeah, maybe it IS something personal and I like it the way it is :-)
Well, I hope to be able to post updates more frequently in the future and keep you entertained :-)
Thanks a lot for all the c&c!

Hi there! Hope it's going well. Promising start...

I'm not really sure if it's easier or harder to control men while being naked... :D (http://www.cgtalk.com/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#)

Good luck!

Coco, I'd think about different ways to show your concept- you need to introduce more background and foreground elements for more contrast.

The story is about control, is that the control that the woman has over the men or the male self control?? Might want to make that a bit clearer!

http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/8/5828/5828_1111921668_medium.jpg (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/8/5828/5828_1111921668_large.jpg)

This are some sketches for my new and final idea: A woman with her big beast-pet. Not an extraordinary idea but I felt that my previous one was way too difficult.

@peperclip: Male selfcontrol?: That's a good one, but no, I didn't come up with that :-)
The idea was actually that there's a being (the woman) capable of controling other beings with its mind. At first I thought it would do to show some soldiers in different 'states', like the one that's most far away from the woman is still very cautious, ready to shoot, and the one next to the woman is already to his knees, helmet taken off and ready to take orders. While sketching that I realized that it won't work so I thought about adding a crashed ufo to show that there are inhuman things happening but that would definatly overload the image... So I'm going for an easyer one now, one that doesn't really need a story...

@tranchefeux & gordonm: thanks for your encouragement!

looking good,is this monster supposed to be powerful?? maybe make him look more aggressive.

coCoKNIght
03-27-2005, 11:48 AM
Thanks Nubian
Its master will be gently laying a hand on its face, so the creature is not supposed to look very agressive. But it should look like it could get very agressive, it should look strong, and it should look like it had fought a lot.

hi Fabian, came to bug you here in 2d too, see i decieded to go 5d too, just to bug you here ;)
just kidding, nice pet you're bringing up here, not very gentle but has loadsa character :)
looks definately interresting and with a bit more adjustments in the massdefinition (light/shadow amoubnt on him) i think he'll come out quiet cool and scary...
keep it up mate! yo, dängg, jezz.

This is more or less how I expect the final composition will be. I think I'm gonna add a throne on the background. I'll keep the colors yellowish.
Hmm.. I guess I'll have to change the perspective. The 'cam' should be deeper and looking up to the characters. What do you guys think?

Thank you all for your encouragement! :-D

are the both "cute" characters in waterdrop excavates. <-- I do not know if that is the right word for Höhle.) hehe

If not I would like to see that. :-)

Go on and draw man Ypieeeee..........

Nice work so far. I like the billowing cloak -- makes the boy look like he has a hidden power of some sort. Or maybe it's just windy where he is. :D I wonder about the beast's hind leg and foot. The long thigh makes it look like a human leg, but that might be your intent. I've been referencing a cat's anatomy for my own entry and the short thigh bone and longer shin bone allow the hind leg to be more vertical.

Looking good!

Good work mate!
I hope you don't mind some crits about the composition... I think you could experiment a bit more with it, I'm sorry but at at the moment it looks a bit boring... you could maybe try to add more elements, or to place the characters not in the center of the image... I don't know, I'm not an expert in composition:shrug: ... I just think you could bring more "life" to the image... try and experiment to see what looks better, nothing too elaborated, just some doodles...that's my sugerence anyway
I wish you the best for this challenge, keep it up!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! :)
@tomaz: yes, it's gonna be a waterdrop cave of some kind
@Ilikesoup: Erm... actually it should be a woman... but you're right, I've got to do a lot of work there so this is visible :D As for the back legs of the beast, yeah I kind of inteded them to look a little like human legs but I feel like it's too klose, I'm gonna work on that too.
@elmasfeo: Man, I'm constantly looking for your challenge entry but can't find it. Are you not joining? Of course you're completly right, I gotta try more angles, and yeah, they shouldn't be like just in the middle...! :D I guess I'll go back to work! Lots to do... :)

Alright coCoKNIght! Not only are you entering the challenge, your doing both challenges, you brave soul. :argh:

Looks great. I like the mistress & beast concept. The beast is really cool cant wait to see more details. I think the mistress would look a little more dramatic if the robe were blowing the other way (behind her), but that may be personal opinion.

Good Luck, I will be watching both or your entries!

Good work mate!

Um, I kind of agree... but on that topic, my suggestion is, if you'll take it :

-do an upshot from the character's foot level or lower
-do a portrait layout (tall image instead of wide)
-have the mistress with her body angled towards the right a bit, but looking and pointing left, and the same with the beast.
-high contrast lighting

And MustardWash's idea of the blowing cloak is good too.

Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for your replies and your continued support.
I didn't have enough time to finish both challenges and I've proceeded and succeeded in finishing the 3d challenge...
But I'll continue with this piece and will probably start a wip thread soon and post the link here.
I've learned so much with this challenges and I'm really excited since it's the first time I finish an entry in time :scream: .
Thanks again to you all!
