Nice work man, really effective. Although it is a slutty nun (tut-tut), I get the concept and it works, nice juxtaposition. A nun would hopefully preserve life rather than take it.
And the master servant message is loud and clear!

Solid!!! :buttrock:Can't say anything.
Wow! pretty damn nice! Good decision on the crow, it really helps your composition a lot and five your piece more life to it.

Just checking back...
VERY NICE. I really like the addition of the crow.
What are your plans for a background? You could really enhance the mood you have with a nice understated b/g.
great work!!!:applause: :applause:

Very nice and cool paint style Svetlin, something of Simon Bisley in your brush strokes,
Well done, congratullations

Svetlin - Everytime I look at this I am astounded! It just gets better with each update. :) One thing, are you going to remove the black like round Death's outstretched hand?

Hi there. Ive been watching this and its a grea image. The colour scheme works really well and the concept is very nice as well. Poor girl, I wonder what else he gets her to do?
I was wondering i fyou where going to add anything to the background? A Land scape or something?
Just a thought!
hey there... i am really liking where this image is going but i must say that the skin tone of the "death" character is to simmilar to the background i think it would be nice to see it stand out a bit more or something of the sort.

I couldn't give right answer all of your questions, but because almost everyone has asked me
about the bg I'll say that I still don't know what to do with that void. The decision will be
taken through the development process. I'll be happy if someone could give me some ideas.
I change the place and size of the crow. You'll find out that very soon...
To PoshSpice: : I had started from a sketch, so if thete is some black stroke that I haven't
erased or painted above that will happen at the end. Thank You "Spicy"!!! You are good as
usual!!!

Good concept and good implementation, i should say. The nun illustrates something pure, more holy. But, despite that, a nun is still a human which is still controlled by sin(illustrated by the skull creature sitting on the chair). Good lightning, overall, COOL!

Hi Svetlin
Excellent work. It is going better every time I see it. About the background I think it dont need anything else. The compositon has enough strenght in the character. Anyway is not bad to think abouit it. Who knows what good idea might come! Congratulations!

Too damn cool! I can't stop thinking about this image. The nun is hot and the demon is great, especially the cowboy boots. The crow is a really cool addition as well. My only crit is that the main character needs to be a different color than the background. Thats just a personal opinion though so take it for what its worth. Epic entry so far.

Excellent artwork, I really like the details (like the crow, the boots...) and colors. Cool characters.
Maybe you can add more elements in the background and create a better atmosphere.
Keep going.

What about few more flying crows which are trying to reach the throne?:D
Velinov
04-13-2005, 08:22 AM
Hi. I think that it isn't necessary to put more crows. My argument is my next upload where you
could find the answer of my decision. I hope that you will find the gold element more detailed
then my last update. You will find and some more elements in the composition whitch in my
opinion makes the image more completed and nire to the final view of my challange entry.

Looking great, Velinov...
I love the crisp colours and the details your adding. I'm not 100% convinced on the positioning on the crow. I wasn't sure when it was up on the horns, either... I think the crow was a good addition though... have you tried it in other places...?
Really good stuff.
Velinov
04-13-2005, 09:43 AM
Oh yes!!! Duddlebug, I've tryed so many diferent places for this pure bird and I saw that her
place is only on death's sholder or nowhere else.

Brilliant, from sketch to end...
The only thing I could have doubts about is the skin color of the nun. Or really the shadowcolor. It seems to brownish and black, maybe a slightly hue towards pink or blue (depending on the color of the light) could do it, and a teeny bit brightness. I think she would become more vivid and naked(=bare) with this. I don't know if she's intended to be that naked and innocent, but since she is the servant...
Otherwise I just agree with the latter 15 pages of awe. You are a visual genius!
NOOB!
04-13-2005, 11:37 AM
looks good,i don't know about the shadow the crow is casting,i don't think that red tint works well.

Heh! Up with big-breasted nuns!
One thing gets me, though. The design on his left boot appears rotated too far in the viewer's direction. With the position of his boot I'd expect it to be more in profile, like the actual foot portion of the boot. Every time I look at this picture my eyes are drawn to it, although I think that's a measure of how good your artwork is when such a small thing can bug me so much! :D

04-13-2005, 05:03 PM
I like the idea of having little or no backgrounds... I get bogged down with meaningless detail that ends up detracting from the characters. Although I love the barbed wire... if anything, maybe you could have faint shapes of more barbed wire fading of into the distance behind them (it might make the background a little more interesting without distracting the viewer??) anyway, this is an excellent piece of art and is far from my critique. :)

Those little additions you've added are a nice touch, the thorny rose vines give a better sense of framing the image, and the crow is a curiosity, goes well with the whole death image. Will you be adding the word SIN onto the ball at the bottom? I just thought that told you more of what was going on, that she wasn't there just for death's personal kicks, that she deserved to be there. whether you do or don't this image is still breath taking. And I think you're right to leave the background blank, the main characters are so strong and tell their story as is, so you'd probably just distract from them with any kind of detailed back ground. Of all the pieces I've looked at, this ranks in my top two or three for subject and style, and it's always the first one I tell people to look at when they ask.

Thanks a lot, Zepyhri. There are people which doesn't fully understand my idea, but you've
got it!!! There is no sense to distract the attention of the viewer with some elements
added in the background or foreground. This wll be useless, because this could distract the
viewers attention from the right direction of my idea, especially the fight between good and
evil, innocence and lust, righteousness and the yield to temptation of sin. In that meaning
everyone is good "Welcome" to sit right to death's throne and to whet his scythe for
eternity...:)

Awesome work! I love your painting style, it is very smooth and crisp and at the same time painterly and suggestive. I think you have a good ballance between the detailed areas of the image and the less focused areas. I've got no real suggestions .. your characer and composition are already great. Alexi.

I love the image, the composition, the character design the gestures etc. but I wish there was more colour variation in each element. The robe, the dress, the throne, the BG, the scythe etc... they're all so monocromatic. Adding more colour variation to these elements (the entire piece really) will bring it to life.
Great stuff so far though!!!

i like the overall texture of the image and intensity of the characters. i hope you dont find this offensive, but i think you have made some big leap from your previous works. i did like your previous works, but this is far more strong and involved, i feel that you are bringing your true potential into this picture. it would be very wrong not to mention that the character designs are fantastic

This is un belated update. I've made some color corections and I belive that the death is separated from the throne now. I've put one rose - white as you see. Gues why. I love those bushes and I thing that they are one of the greatest element in the image.
Thangs for the suport up to now.
The end of the challange is near, so it going to be interesting what is going to hapend...

Wow. Just.. wow. I cannot tell you how much I sincerely love this image, Svetlin. It's dark and yet fun, there are so many individual touches that really make it stand out for me, not to mention your gorgeous painting style. It's so hard to pick one piece as a winner from all these amazing artworks, but I think this one would get my vote by a hairs breadth, simply because it makes me smile and catch my breath every time I look at it. That must really sound like I'm brown nosing, heh heh heh, but honestly, it's reverence, this image has inspired me beyond words. Best pf luck in the judging, I really hope it gets recognition.
And I agree with you about the rose bushes. But my fave part beyond all other is the cowboy boots. That's just genius!

Hi Svetlin!
Really like your image as a composition, and really great execution! One thing I noticed is that the crow on his shoulder makes that area a little stuffy, maybe you could place it elsewhere? Just a thought,...but a good one :)....just kidding

Looks great! Rose is a nice tough. Might want to consider making Death's hand a different color than the background, though.

hmmmm, i think the image is lighter much lighter since i last time looked at it. i prefered the darkewr version, since that, harder contrasts, help the athmosphere. to separate on a darker environment, death from his trone, a simple backlight might do it. since the whole light is warm, a working separation separationcolor would be in the cyan area. hope that made sense. Keep it up svetlin, looking forward to your next update

Great image! I just think that u could balance tha composition of colrs a bit. I know that u r not finished yet, but Im curious what will the sky looked like? What colors will be in the upper part of the pic? Right now its a bit unstable in my opinion coz of heavy red carpet in the bottom and the same colour scheme on the death as well as the sky. I hope I make some sense :) Otherwise ignore me.. hehe... the pic looks fantastic!

i cant help thinking you could do something more with the background - you cant really make out what it is exactly, a wall? maybe you could come up with something knock-out for that? not necessarily too different just better defined (tortured hanging?? or something). sweet image dude :buttrock:

I've said it before a few times... but i love this image!
Just one question (you've probably explained already but i've missed it)... why only one Rose..?
The paint 'finish' is just great... there's some real clever details... he's a big badass dude... and most importantly...
...It's got a foxy nun!! Woohoo!!
Good luck in the judging Svetlin!!
Velinov
05-13-2005, 06:10 PM
duddlebug - The rose is metaphor which personified the love of the death to the nun. His
love is so fragille and pure like that only rose. He love her but he don't know how to
make her love him, too. He is one rigorous master who doesn't know how to keep the
love of his beloved. He knows only that he won't have another chance to love someone.
About the rose. Why one?
Well, Maybe thit is the last one.
He is concerned about the rose or he is going to snap the nun.
Where is the balance between love and hate. Is he hate the nun in his love.
Is it possible to be with her anyway? The personality of the death is bifurcate and
fulled with pain. But she still sits on his thigh.
FPrint - thatnk for the nice words!!! All in the hands of the judges.
Cheers

Just a little thing, not artistic or technical though: you've posted this as your Final Coloring, not your Final Image, so you may not have completed all the steps of the challenge. I don't know if it's on purpose or if you plan to post a Final Image later (if that's the case, I apologize), but I thought I'd tell you, just in case.
