Yes! I am in! I have no idea what kind of concept I'll throw in, but, all kinds of thoughts have started to pop-up in my head and that doesn't really help focusing on my work (not related to CGI) at the moment!!! :scream:

I'll try to do my best, I've hopefully learned something from the previous challenge!

This might too big piece for me to do in this timelimit, especially when I have a dayjob with long hours... Maybe I'll try to do something more simple, as this would require really many rigged humanoids etc.

maybe you could make it in a way that it would also work with fewer
characters. That way if you know you ain't got the time you know
what characters to drop and how to change the angle and composition

Sorry for the poor concept drawing, again... The idea is that there is guitar hero that is worshipped and adored by the fans. I am very tempted to model myself as the guitar hero, even though I am far away from that:)

This concept feels better, yet it isn't less ambitious. there is a lot of modelling to do...

Started off with the easy part, the guitar. It is going to be a Ibanez, next texturing it...

I guess I'll do some head modelling later on today (once I get home from work). I will take some headshots of myself and try to create a realistic head, as I want to be the guitarist in this scene!

I have noticed, that this concept is not less tedious than the "hell" scene as there will be a lot of details (the audience, the stage, the guitar, the guitarist, lighting etc.). But a really good project to practice all the basic skills like modelling, texturing, lighting and rendering. I think I will try build a proper rig for the character too so that I can try different poses and perhaps animate it also later on. Hopefully I'll finish in time!

good work so far, this image looks promising

i have a few critiques on the guitar model though, it look like you used the meshsmooth modifier and i would watch out because it may give you too much of a melted smooth effect that will make your model look unrealistic. . . to avoid this, try chamfering edgs that should be "hard" edges with small amounts and tha twill give you a harder edge in the resulting meshsmoothed mesh.

Yes, thanks for the tip. I'll be creating a harder edge also for the bottom of the guitar. Also the mikes will be fixed a bit more.

I started experimenting with the guitar textures. Some are UV-maps and some just procedurals. I know the body texture is still too dotty, will improve that more. But I will now move on to modeling the player etc. and tweak the guitar later on. I am working now long hours at my dayjob and don't have enough freetime, lets see if I can finish in time.

First tests with the texturing of the head. Moving on to the body. I have now the chance to make myself look more athletic than I really am:)

The guitarist is starting to get ready, the textures still need some fixing. I'll be working next on stage and props. Oh, I need some audience too...

He's pretty cool and has a lot of character. I reckon the hand is the only bit that's weak. They look a bit square on the fingertips and could do with being fattented up...

I did some tweaks on the guitarist model, added a strap for the guitar, and many small things. I think there is still room for some improvement in the guy. Next working with the stage again.

Looking good!

I'd suggest giving his left hand a more interesting pose though (it doesn't look like he knows how to play too well!). A standard bar chord shape would look really good.

It might be that I need to to some radical changes with the concept as there might not be enough time. Lets see what I can achieve then make some changes to the plan. At least the audience needs to be somehow simplfied. Maybe they will be totally in the shadows, that might work. But lets see what happens:)

Stage props, wires, amps, etc. I need to still add a lot of details and then start texturing the objects.

Thanks Tom! Yes, I did a little retouch for the guitarist (WIP though) in Photoshop but the stage is still untextured and just a draft. Any ideas, for what to add as an detail. I was thinking of beer bottles, etc. Maybe some stuff that the audience has thrown to the stage. Underwear perhaps? :)

I thought I'd do some texturing for the stage scene for a while. I am still evaluating what details to add more. I guess I should start building up the audience soon too...

I also added some picks to the floor, more wires, and if you pay attention you'll notice that there is a small toy bear on the corner of the amp:) I think it's better than having a beer bottle there:)

This stage thing is really difficult to make look like a realistic case. I guess the lighting is the important part. Also the audience and guitarist will change the feel of it.

closeup on the amp. Not exactly the quality level I wanted to achieve but this has to do this time:) I've done only tweaking of the colours in Photoshop and added some noise.
