Alright.. I've been in a bit of a slump the last few days and this was put on hold. I redrew the idea and it's much more comfortable than before. I doubt I will finish, or win for that matter. Everyone is doing a great job, and as my first large scale contest entry I feel very small compared to you pros.. I hope to make a good competitor someday.

My very first impression is that just a kid with his ball would be more effective. If you have to explain anything when the image is finished, you're taking focus away from the image. With that in mind, I think the inspiring aspect of this challenge is the necessary human element, the part that communicates an understanding without needing words or an explanation. So basically, having too complicated an idea may undermine the primary value of an entry.

Anywho, your concept looks good, but everything is happening in the lower half. I'd give all the action more room by either lowering the perspective or rotating around to a 45 or closer to a side view. Or maybe just zoom in on the lower half, there are lots of things to play with.

Good luck!

Edit: Maybe death can just move a little to the right and the kid a little left to give them space, the kid doesn't have to be right in front of the truck.

Yeah, I'm already redrawing this idea. I realized the action was all happening in the lower half, and that you don't really see a perspective view of death or the child.. they are just profiles.. so I'm going to make it from a new angle.

Thanks for criting this. :D

NOOB!
