Tyler Calkin has entered the Master and Servant 2D.

Challenge Page (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/masterandservant/view_entries.php?challenger=5749)

Latest Update: Concept Sketch: drowning

I'm glad you like it Slav, and thanks for the advice! I started working the background, but I'm pretty busy right now, so I just decided to do this quick sketch on a completely different idea. The master (arm & sword) has just caught one of his servants stealing from him. (the servant is being held underwater). I kind of like this idea better...

After reading the subject, this popped into my head.

Looking good so far. Just dropped by to wish luck to a fellow DSGer. I'll be coming around every now and again!

I like the idea in your pics...

Hi Tyler! Welcome to ze challenge!! :D
What's going on in the sketch? Someone in jail?
Cheerio

Well, it started as the man's basement, but ended up as a jail. My idea was that he was seeing a religious "vision", being his master.

hey guys.. So I was sketching this other idea in Painter, when it closed and said 'Insufficient Space on disk to open new picture', yet I can open others and create new ones. I just cant seem to open that up again. Does anyone know why? Thanks.

Did this sketch in about a minute. I was trying to make a scene in which the servant is ambiguous.

OK. So the idea is that both of the battling figures in the foreground are pausing and gazing at the figure in the doorway. Both the man and the monster will probably have chains. I\'m hoping that the viewer will be able to decide what figure they want to be subervient. Input? Crits?

Hey Fellow DSGer... Glad to see you're entering. You definitely got a funky style so good luck.

I like your idea.
How are you thinking of having the room?
Are they fighting to the death?
What is you view on who's who?

Oh and the first concept really reminds me of that Remmington or something character from Dracula who eats the bugs. That would be very master servant.

Thanks for the input The Damned!

On further contemplation, I was thinking of having the room being more of a dungeoun below the doorway. They would be fighting as some sort of sport for the master/punishment for the man, or both. First sketching it, the man fighting was the original servant, although the large rodent could also be considered a servant of the onlooker (female).

I like you're Remmington idea! ... Would that be considered plagiarasim or something?

Another idea, based off the 1st one, a man religiously compelled to commit murder.

I don't want to be religiously offensive, so I'll probably scrap the cross, but its all i could think of right now...

I tried a different layout for the 'ambiguous' idea. I think this works a little better and is a little more clear.

tried coloring the man, making his wounds a little more apparent

really neat stuff.. kind of reminds me of the piper ... the one witht he rats... old tale, but a very powerful one. keep up the good work.

(just a small crit... i would suggest you work out the background 1st then start blocking in the characters its going to make the lighting a bit more dramtic and easier to fit the character intot he scene not the scene around the character. dont make my mistake. i had to draw the female figure in my illustration in another file then i spent another day or so blending her in... )

Thanks xric7!! I'm glad you like it. I'm having data error problems at the moment, but as soon as I can I'll update with more extensive conceptualizations and hopefully pin down an idea.
