"Servant no more"
concept sketch, Photoshop, 30 min,

For this challenge I wanted to make an image that was truly disturbing to the viewer.

I'm not sure if Ill do this one or not. I feel its realy powerfull, but I dont know if i want to work on such a dipressing subject matter for 2 months. I may end up doing something a little more light hearted.

I GOT IT! my title is:
"No matter how much trust and love you share, you heart will always be a servant to the master you choose for it."

Sory about the lousy concept sketch. I wanted to get it down as quick as possible while it was fresh in my head.

Basicly this piece will be about my personal experiences and the experiences of pretty much everyone I know. That no matter how well you think you know someone, you realy only know what they want you to know.

The figure in the image will be a beautifull and dark woman. She isnt necissarily evil, but deffinetly dark. I am thinking of using Sargents "Madame X" as insperation for the figure.

In one hand she is holding a human heart, the other a silver dagger. The heart is glowing and is warm. Its still connected to veins that are streatched from the mirror in front of her. (Its Like the one galadriel uses in Lord of the Rings.)

The environment will be a sureal reprisentation of what it feels like to be in love. a very romantic and organic atmosphere. But there is still something foreboading about the mood. You are not sure you entirely trust the master with the dagger. Even though she doesnt show any sign of wanting to do harm to your heart, you dont doubt that she could. It's realy up to her.

This could end up looking quite Pre-Raphaelite! I really like the colours and the ambience in you little thumbnail. Wanna see more! :)

I am so obsessive about colours. And right now, I'm going to obsess a little about the colours you've chosen for this.

First off - please stick with them!

The desaturated green and the orange red are a flawless combination. Very evocative and very 'fresh' at the same time as remaining quite antique in their expression. The almost pistache coloured light works perfectly with the rest. Yay! Lovely colour scheme.

sketched out the composition. I used almost the exact pose from Madame X. This weekend im going to start collecting reference material and hopefully take some of my own.

What a dark, twisted concept! I like the sketch, too.

Wanted to point out that the point on the knife is on a tangent with the top of the table: Is that just an unintended coincidnce, or is she dragging the knife tip across the table? If so, you might be able to give more of an impression of that movement by rotating her wist and the knife itself both counterclockwise. Otherwise, you may want to think about subtle changing the height of the table to avoid the tangency.

good luck with it, and have fun!

-mike

Thanks for the coments guys! :)

The knife is being draged across the tabletop, I'll probably adjust the perspective so you can see the surface of the top, and the point of the knife will be lower than the back edge of it, Thanks! :scream:

The Story is very well thought. like it a lot, the way you work with the symbolistic aspects of love offers a lot of possebileties. this piece has a lot of potential, also i like the coloscheme a lot. its unusual and works very well. the colorsketch looks beautifull, subscribing er and wish you a lot of fun and best luck. keep on goin! cheers:thumbsup:

Looks nice. The woman reminds me of Madame X painted by John Singer Sargent. I think it's the contrapasto pose, the colors and her dress. Not a bad thing, though :)

Nice work here! Sorry I've been missin' out on your thread, but I'm payin' attention now!

Love your concept (if a bit dark... not that 'dark' is bad, for sure, lol) and composition. Has a nice classic feel to it. Nice colours too... that red / orange really makes the other subtle hues pop!

Looking forward to your next update! Cheers!

Ash! good to see your finaly on the CG! Now all you need is a wacom and your in business!

but for the "Love stinks" theme, i dont think its so much Love Stinks as it is a non nieve way of looking at love. Love is a beautifull thing and its great, but its very trecherous at times and can be blinding. We dont want to look at the ones we love the most with any kind of suspision, and that leaves us volnerable to so much.

Thanks to everyone elses comments! I have worked on it some more but my internet connection at home is being difficult at the moment so i have no way of updating my progress right now. Unless I bring my updates to work (where i am now) and if the net doesnt get fixed soon thats probably what ill do. Or make ash do it for me. Hehehehe.
