Joel M Clifton has entered the Master and Servant 3D.

Latest Update: Concept Sketch: Political Cartoon Take 2

This started as a character model sketch for my first idea, but then somehow turned into a Concept sketch for an entirely new idea. I even used an eraser from time to time while doing this sketch, so hopefully it is clearer than my first Concept.

A General is playing a game of Chess with Soilders on a Chess Board inlaid with a Map of the World. The General appears to be quite cocky and arogant as he places his soilder(pawn) in a vulnerable position to an enemy soldier. The General's pawn looks back at him with a worried expression.

I am still planning to go with the same Political Cartoon in 3D style that I described earlier. And the Soldier Chess piece in the General's hand will be rendered as real and expressive as the General.

I was an avid lurker all throughout the Grand Space Opera, and I could not pass up the chance to participate in this one. This is my very first CGTalk Challenge, so please be gentle.

I would like to wish everybody Good Luck as the challenge commences; Although, judging by the quality of Space Opera entries, I believe I am the one in need of the most luck.

Anyway, I am very excited about this chance to learn and improve.

This is the initial concept that came to me the the instant I read the challenge subject. I have recently been really interested in the style of Political Cartoonists such as Steve Brodner, and I feel it would be interesting to attempt to reinterprept that outlandish, satirical style in the world of 3D.

For my idea, I am attempting to to show a rich man riding up a set of marble steps to a Capital building in the lap of luxury, while being carried on the back of a struggling, working-class man. While that idea itself, may seem a quite obvious choice given the subject, I am hoping that I bring enough uniqueness to make it special.

Very interesting concept. Too bad not too many people think out of the box.. I guess I am going to watch this space to see how you develop the idea. But prima facie the idea is pretty good.. I want to see and learn too.. to see how you proceed from here..
Good luck, mate... :)

Joel here's an idea for you put like 1000 of stairs in the background that they already climbed, it will intensify the scene

Cool idea.

I like the expression on the general's face. Looks real evil.
