Hey all,
Is there something wrong with the GI feature in Maya 6? I have a simple test scene with a Mental Ray area light emitting photons. GI is turned on in both the light attributes and the render globals. I render the scene out with a high accuracy and a low radius to see the photons, but it seems that the photons are very weak and hard to see. When increase the photon intensity ( I assume its the same thing as energy from Maya v5) I can see them but, when I increase the radius to soften them out, they fade way to much (all these tweaking values are increased and decrease slightly). The final render has little or no effect and looks no different then just an area light with raytraced shadows.
If I set up the same scene in Maya 5, it works fine. The Maya 6 help docs on "how to" set up a GI scene appear to be the same help docs from v5 and seem to be useless. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ernie
