03-25-2005, 04:44 PM
Haha "5D" is pretty funny. These are great sketches so far - what is the idea behind your sketches? Are they just compositional studies?
03-25-2005, 05:23 PM
Great sketches; love the figures in the upper-left and lower-right especially. :)
03-25-2005, 05:48 PM

03-29-2005, 08:30 AM
Hi all!! many many thanks for comments , here is a rough sketch to find the right composition ,its
not the final , so comment are welcome
the story is about man , animal in reverse relationship , animal force human to be weapon , .......
สวัสดี คลุ้มคลั่งสุดๆ It very crazy man. good job
03-29-2005, 09:24 AM
Hi, splendid sense of movement and action in this one. I really appreciate the power underlying the sketch - I can't see where you're going with this.
Just a tad difficult to tell what's going on right now, but you have me intrigued!
03-29-2005, 09:40 AM
I like this last concept a lot, very dynamic, and action packed like your last 2d entry in GSO. Hope you settle down on one idea soon.
03-29-2005, 07:50 PM
Dude, love the sketch. Very nice action poses.
03-30-2005, 12:29 PM
Ahh, I think this is my final concept , story is about Mantid queen ,the female mantis sometimes devours the male during the mating process and The dead male may also serve as a source of protein for the female and her young ,but mantis queen is a little bit complicate ,she made man fall in love and she don't let him die, he must live as long as she want , the undead man will be servant? lover? food? prey? it's up to her emotion!!
I want to present the very complicate relationship between master and servant ,maybe it complicate , but you still see this kind of relationship in your everyday life, heyy watch your girlfriend!
comments are welcome ! sorry for my bad eng!!
03-30-2005, 01:22 PM
Sketches are amazing, Monsit (as expected). I like the intensity of the Gorilla/Manservant sketch, but the last sketch is very evocative and has great designs and mood :) . Only thought is, what perspective is this sketch at (looks like it was tilted on its side)?
03-30-2005, 02:11 PM
very wicked. good stuff you're up to, I like the mantis Concept. didn't you play around enough with machineflesh yet? ;) you still see this kind of relationship in your everyday life, heyy watch your girlfriend! muahahaha! no comment on this :P
keep em coming, hungry here for more
Interesting stuff, keep working. I'll look forward seeing this in color
i think the last concept sketch and story has strong message. love to see some colors now...keep going Mon!
03-30-2005, 05:48 PM
Some very nice concept sketches, the perspective on the gorilla/manservant is very dynamic.
One thing that does seem odd about the Mantis Queen picture is the position of the tail (if it is a tail). Shouldn't the tail protrude from just above the buttocks and not actually from between the cheeks?
03-30-2005, 05:54 PM
very good line art, dynamic style. I love this
03-30-2005, 06:33 PM
Very cool start.
Can't wait to see this fleshed out more.
03-30-2005, 07:28 PM
really interesting concept, like it :bounce:
03-30-2005, 07:39 PM
Great dynamic movement. Poor guy. Although having said that there are worse ways to die. Looking forward to seeing your colour WIPs.
03-30-2005, 09:50 PM
Wow, what a great concept - and such good drawing/composition. I want to keep an eye on this thread!
03-30-2005, 10:24 PM
Tough and vicious......excellent drama to the sketch, and very alive and tough....oh I said that already.....;)
Really well drawn, excellent Monsit....great to see and follow.....:arteest:
03-31-2005, 02:08 PM
So, here you are again... That's great! :D So, about this idea of yours, I think it's definitely original. mmmh... Don't know what else to say at the moment. Maybe you could turn out her tail into something usefull, like a sting or a weapon of any sort. The use of poison, sedative, love filter may be an interesting direction to explore in the context.
see you later
04-01-2005, 11:59 AM
correct proportion ,and renew composition , comments are alway welcome!
04-01-2005, 12:52 PM
i like the concept, cant wait to see colour and background.. i originally thought it was a spider type character.. but its all following the master, servant theme, thumbs up
04-01-2005, 02:16 PM
Lovely sketck. Nice line and I like your characters a lot. I can't wait to see your next wip.
Good luck man!
04-01-2005, 02:35 PM
Don't want to be near her... I find your concepts quite finished. I'll wait your next step. :)
great sketch. i would like to see some bg elements though. :) nice job!
04-01-2005, 10:08 PM
Great concept, Monsitj! She reminds me of the demon woman in one of the opening scenes from the Wicked City anime... I saw it years ago and hardly remember anything but that, in fact, so the fact that your piece reminds me of an already indelible image is a good thing.
so are they going to be floating there? Suspended in a web? What's the idea for the background? And one little are not reading quite as well as it could yet: Her rear-end should be closer to the view than that back leg, right? So it seems like it might help read better, and make more sense perhaps, to have her tail in front of her bback leg instead of vise versa.
Anyhow, keep going? I can't wait to see this get refined and see what kind of palette you choose. Good luck!
04-01-2005, 10:11 PM
i really like the way she's clinging to his limbs... he looks so helpless...
04-01-2005, 10:57 PM
looking good, i like the idea.
04-01-2005, 11:58 PM
Death by snoo-snoo can't be all bad, its a great way to go out. Nice new composition monsit, glad you're settling down on concepts; now we can seesome great work.
04-02-2005, 12:10 AM
Dude! That's a rough way to die... a great concept, if a little unsettling. But nobody said art was supposed to be pleasant! Love your sketches... and if your Space Opera entry was any indication, this entry will rock the house! Can't wait to see more.
More, damnit... MOOOORRRE!
my 2D entry:
04-02-2005, 02:00 AM

04-02-2005, 04:58 PM
wow looking good!
04-03-2005, 12:28 PM
here is the rough color ,I don't sure about the color scheme , so your comments are very important, thanks in advance
04-03-2005, 01:36 PM
hmhmhm. Red then.... I like the cyan blue ways you normally go for, it supports humanoid character's skintones while deepred sorts swallows them. I'd work more in a complemetary background color spectrum, but thats just me...
Keep it up mate! oh, her butt looks very delicious... you might know... lol
04-05-2005, 09:37 AM
I love your entry !
I think you should give her a savage expression on her face. Because she doesn't seems to make a strong effort here...not sure but it could improve things in according the feelings of the characters to the dynamic of the composition.
Cya !
04-05-2005, 10:50 AM
Hi! I wish U Luck) And if to say about coloring, as for me it wil be interesting if U give light from the botom of the picture U`ll rotate the normal perception. And it could give interesting effect)
04-06-2005, 06:43 AM
I think that it will be an awesome picture, however I don't see the Master/Slave relationship just some guy being attacked. I think that if you are out to win then you might rethink the concept of the challenge ...hey but I might be way off base because they DID have a Ken Kelly painting and a Boris painting where the character was being attacked though those pictures also made me scratch my head trying to find the Master/Slave relationship. Anyways i'll enjoy seeing your work regardless.
04-06-2005, 12:03 PM
love the composition man...just love her character design and positioning...
All the best
04-06-2005, 12:08 PM
u probably allready thaugt of this one but how about high saturation red spots on her exoskeleton blending onto her butt, and some tirquise to balance things out, i love ur rdrawing skills and i think ull do the colours perfectly:thumbsup:
04-06-2005, 11:34 PM
yuck! i didn't know mantis queens did that! it's a good idea, and as said before (by others) it's a dynamic sketch! i really look forward to this... gonna subscribe!
04-07-2005, 02:28 AM
Oh, this is just too richly, indecently WRONG! *cackles* I love it! Poor guy...
But the fact that her right leg currently appears to be wrapped around her spikey-tail-appendage is bothering me mightily. Is her tail supposed to be curved around her leg and I'm just "reading" it wrong?
04-07-2005, 03:07 AM
Very vivid.Great composition and pose.scarey too.Love the look.:bounce:
04-07-2005, 03:18 AM

sandsekh : thanks you very much
nebezial : many thanks for suggestion , I will try coloring , I'm new in 2d coloring , so it take a lot of time:wise:

Your 2d work is just as good as your 3d - if not even better! Your composition skills are awesome. I really looking forward to see more of this
04-09-2005, 06:42 PM
Hey fantastic composition. Only thing is I'm a little concerned about the back of her costume, there is a really great piece coming off like a tail but it almost looks like it should be placed a little bit higher.
Can't wait to see more! Good luck :)
04-09-2005, 06:43 PM
love the characters.
excellent so far!
04-11-2005, 12:38 PM
colours are well balanced, the composition looks good, and the character designs are great. keep uuuup!!:)
04-11-2005, 02:10 PM
Wow... I'd hate it if she ever got a hold on me, let alone the poor fellow. :D
So far, it's looking like it'll turn out to be an amazing entry; I'll be watching this one. :)
04-11-2005, 02:27 PM
Really nice movement to the whole thing - I like the concept. I'd agree about the red though - it sucks out the flesh tones loads. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out though :)
04-11-2005, 04:33 PM
Hi Monsit, this is a great concept, very inspired! Reminds me very much of Dorian Cleavenger's work. The composition you've created with the lines of her body is very dynamic too. The red is perhaps a tad too strong, it kind of overwhelms the great lines of the mantis woman, it might be an idea to have touches of red to spark off the green but tone down the rest of the background. or bring in more red to the skin tones, that would certainly help. But it's looking fantastic so far, very amano-esque in the face of the woman, which I love.
wow, this is just plain sick, you are incredible both 3d ,2d, all the best:bounce:
04-15-2005, 01:47 PM
cool concept... i cant wait for u to flesh out those details and come up with a really nice image
the best of luck
but i've seen a similar concept, made by Egil Paulsen long ago
good luck for the contest too
04-16-2005, 02:13 AM
many thanks for constructive comments guys!
adia : check your message box!
04-16-2005, 02:17 AM
Hi ,this is my latest update , not sure about red color yet ,maybe I tweak it later , work in both 2d and 3d is hard , I think maybe I can't make it , thanks for every comments!
04-16-2005, 04:51 AM
I would imagine a praying mantis would be green, but red works in your painting, I think you should keep the red. Maybe she should be looking at the man instead of at the camera:shrug: . Waiting for more added detail. Will you be able to see the ground beneath them?
since the last time i been here the image has come quite some ways... i like the direction but the face is bothering me kind of... but its deffent for everyone i guess. it just looks to male to me.
04-22-2005, 11:44 AM
i think red is good but keep teweaking as you say.... really nice work
04-22-2005, 06:00 PM
Your image is looking good.
I love the swirlly flow you have going on, and your color scheme & detailing work is outstanding.

04-26-2005, 12:46 AM
pretty cool lookin spidey, love the body structure design, keep it up!
04-26-2005, 12:47 AM
Lol, you're dong 5d much better than I do, hehe, looks like your day has way more hours than mine... maybe like 38 or so?
Your blue touch in the red turns it into way more ballance, love the light. the details look top notch, but i'd like to give you a little thought i made when looking on your work.
somehow feel like her mainaxis is bending a bit radical. hips run on 15 degrees upwards to the legt, while shoulders vanish almost straight backwardts, i'd maybe move the rightshoulder a bit down and backwards, to set that axis more parallel. same in face, i'd suggest to close up the right eyye, insectoid and humanoid a bit closer to the middleline, maybe. the jaw looks very masculine if its that strong. maybe skew the jaw slightly right, to get it a bit more feminine. and something withthe eyebrows looks asymetirc in the middle area.
those of course only are my own personal view and just a matter of taste. keep it up monsit, your piece rox
04-26-2005, 01:17 AM
many many thanks for comments and encoragement! long time no update ! I think 5d in 2 month is very hard , and because my 3d entry have a lot of work to do , so I have to focus in it ,and tight deadline , I will comeback to 2d for sure if time left! have fun!

04-26-2005, 09:43 AM
Awesome concept and excellent progress so far! She looks like she's just waiting to rip the head right off of him.
Woooow! The lady is sure looking dangerous, she could make anyone a slave (a silent one I'd say! :) Like it very much, waiting to see the background! :p

holy smokes man I havent seen this before! this is great. The rendition of the pace is simply amazing! Theres some thing up with her right arm. I know that this is work in progress and you probably already notice but it caught my eye. It seems like her right arm is coming out of here stomach. could it be that thats a shadow? if that is the case Id keep it but just push it more towards the hue of her stomach and chest area just to clear up the differentiation. I love those wings man. This is some really good work!
05-14-2005, 07:45 AM

05-14-2005, 05:34 PM
This is really nice. I like the way that you kept the strong drawing showing through. I like the way that the composition is formed by the shapes of the figures.
Her forarms and hands are crazy and I find it hard to imagine how she would move but I like their style anyway.
05-14-2005, 06:54 PM

many thanks for comments and encouragement guys! after non stop
paint! here is progress , tell me what you think!
05-16-2005, 05:37 PM
Hi, I really like your color and, of course, your design. But I think the shadow at the upper left of the image is too staight and too dark. Because of the distance of the light, I think it should be a little more bright. Just my opinion. Best Luck to You.
And what is a circle be on top of your monster's wing? Is it your brush? :bounce:
05-16-2005, 08:49 PM

Your pict have changed a lot since the last time I've seen it... And in a good way! I've noting to say about the texture and the colors. Mmmh, maybe you could work a little the shape of the shoulder and back of the suffering male... Anyway, that's not a real prob and with the time left, I think the picture is just fine and really attractive. Great work again pale!!
05-17-2005, 02:58 AM

It's done!! here is my concept
story is about Mantis queen ,the female mantis sometimes devours the male during the mating process and The dead male may also serve as a source of protein for the female and her young ,but mantis queen is a little bit complicate ,she made man fall in love and she don't let him die, he must live as long as she want , the undead man will be servant? lover? food? prey? it's up to her emotion!!
