View Full Version : Character Studio and Wire Parameters
Gonzo The Great 09-24-2002, 02:16 AM Can you assign Wire Parameters to a Biped in Max 5?
Max 4 doesn't seem do it.
I can't find a way to assign a Rotate of any axis, or Reactor or other controllers to a Character Studio Biped (eg. Upper Arm) with wire parameters and then a viewport manipulator.
Every other rotatable object can except Bipeds.
Anyone know a workaround?

A quick "but...that doesn't help me at all" thing from me, but it's all I can think of:
Don't use biped?
If you make your own rig you'll have all the control you'll ever have wanted. Follow the tutorials in the manual about character rigging and you'll have something very useable within a short amount of time.
But that's such a simplified point of view, there's a ton of reasons why you could need Biped. Just thought I'd at least throw the idea out on the floor
I think overall the current Character Studio offers little in the ways of being open for customization. I don't know of wiring works or doesn't, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did, infact, not. Maybe the next version will yield otherwordly goodness.

Gaggle... I.... believe you're somebody only I can see and hear. You're not a real person, are you? But my subconscious.
For the past week I've been tossing up, for lack of a better word, should I actually use bones instead of my already contructed and weighted biped and 14 second animated and render ready first scened Biped, and now my Subconscious, or "Gaggle" as you like to call yourself, have hit me at my most insomniatic vunerable time and invaded my brain via my computer and now you've finally convinced me to use bones and skin disguised in a "but that doesn't help me at all" attitude - not even approaching the initial question at hand:
"Can you assign Wire Parameters to a Biped"
Well, F%^& you, Subconscious. You win.
Who gives a crap about wiring a biped. Character Studio - Crap program anyway.
The End.

MUuahahha, another brain invaded! Though it's tricky and a bit of an artform entering the subconscious of others :arteest:
