Title: Church Of The Light
Name: Xuan Tong Li 李宣彤
Country: China
Software: 3ds max, AutoCAD, Photoshop, VRay

Church of the light is a famous build,it have been designed by Tandao Tado,a genius at architecture.

I made the model with acad, this is a simple model. I rendered the scene with vray without GI,
I just needed vray's area light to simulated sky light. I used some 3dsmax standard spotlights and
point lights to simlated sun at dusk and rebound
light from church's interior.

I'm a big fan of Tadao Ando. It's hard to comment on the floor material because I've never visited the building in real life but I'm assuming it's a little less regular and not as reflective (from some pictures I've seen). The light makes the floor stand out more then usual in your rendering so I'd suggest to make some minor improvements in this area.

I think it's very good overall...

the bump on the ground is maybe a bit too strong,

yes,I had posted the image on cgarchitect before.
About the floor, actually, real church's floor has been builded with very rough board,
but maybe my bump map of floor strong too....

thank your comment.

in fact when i see this image again i think that the mather for the ground is not so much that you have a strong bump for the wood, but that it is quite difficult to feel the boards that it's made of.
is it a simple plate or did you have assembled différent objetcs ?

That's quite nice but the bump is a bit too harsh. Also i have some doubts about the general mood of the church, i guess Tadao Ando wanted a more cold and "spiritual" look when he designed it, the orange tones don't fit imho, it would have been perfect in a blueish tone. Great job anyway!

Yeah, that bump is way too strong IMHO. As well, the mat. on the benches catch my eye too. The lighting, if it were white, would be more acceptable, because in Ando's real piece, that's how lighting penetrates the cross, as white. I wonder how this would look in Maxwell Render.... hmmm.
