How do you make your texture transparent?? Because I made a plant from photoshop and it has transparent in the background and it appears with white in the background when I opened it in the 3ds max, nevertheless.

Have you tried pressing F1 in 3Ds max and writing "Transparency" there?
What format did u save the image in?
Do you know what an opacity map is?

I saved it in tif and psd format. I got it worked but solid color (plant) is opacity too! I want background to be 100% transparent and 100 solid% for plant. When I set it to opacity and it makes my plant looks like a ghost (see thur).

Also, I pressed F1 and it loads something but nothing appears. Yeah, I know what opacity map is, it s under the basic parameters.

Thanks

F1 should load the help file.I'ts very usefull whenever you are working in 3ds max.
You should consider reinstalling 3ds if it isnt working otherwise you will have to post whenever you have the smallest doubt like the one you are having right now.

Inside the help they explain in detail all about the plant and what you want to do. I remember in 3ds max R3 you even had a tutorial of making a dead nature picture and it had a plant using the opacity map technic.

Oh I see, I am using trail period of 3ds max, I have only 9 days left, I better hurry the heck up! Can you copy and paste all detail from help file??

WWWWOOOOOOOTT!! I got it! I made two textures, one of them must be two colors, white and black for opacity map then use diffuse for texture, that s it.

Thanks man.

For those new people who wants to know how to do this, just try to make background with solid black then select the whole plant and make it to solid white and use it for opacity map only. It will estiminate the black and leave white for texture. Then you can use diffuse under basic parameters for texture.

Good luck.
