View Full Version : 10 Second Club Rough 4 Critique
Decade 03-20-2005, 01:40 AM Ok, here's a basic rough of the body acting for this month's contest. It's all linear keyframes at the moment.
The lip sync's barely started, just a flapping jaw really, but let me know what I need to do on the body acting/ timing.
I made the rig myself for this contest, this is only about my second serious go at character animation, so let me know where I'm going wrong.

Thanks for looking.

for a second go, i think it's a really good start. the sound clip is of a man that seems nervous and a bit...out of it. you need to convey that in your animation. right now it just seems like he's popping from pose to pose. i'd make him a little more jumpy, a bit nervous but holding back.
one thing i noticed is that when the guy turns to look back, his body and head turn at almost the same time. id displace the time a little more, his head should turn first, then his body follows.
anyway, good work, i'd like to see the progress on this :)

Thanks for your advice. Actually I have the head following the body, but I'll play around with it a bit more. It is basically just pose to pose with a bit of offset, I didn't know how else to get started. Will work some & re-post.

yeah, start at pose to pose, but you gotta add overlap and breakdowns and smaller movements to make it flow properly. good start though. but yeah, with animation the body follows the head. good luck.

Okay, I've worked on everything a bit more, started the function curves for the hips & head. Any suggestions would be useful. Thanks.

I like the poses, and I dont know if you just havent worked on these areas yet.. but blinking really puts a lot of emotion into it and also the eye movements. Also hes too still in between poses, IMO something should always be moving, otherwise it looks mechanical
EDIT:: I guess I didnt read your whole post sorry, for a rough version of just the poses in place it looks good, its hard to tell at this phase though because the little things like fidgeting and eye movements really put a lot of emotion into an animtion sometimes equal to that of the main poses.
