Hi everybody,

This is not really a problem i have to solve for a proyect but for learning. Maybe what i m going to ask is not that difficult, but i dont undenrstand (as simply as that), i have been reading the reference since yesterday , reading in the net....

1-Can you explain to me the difference between Sistem Units and Display Units?
2-I read in the reference that it dangerous to change the system units in an alrady created scene, Why?
3-I Read in the reference that you colud change the system units before i impor objects.

I would appreciatte if you could explain those quenstions in a "For dummies" way. Thank you very much . I know that a lot of people in this forum is going to learn thanks to your help.

Bobo, Thank you very much for the link and sorry for the delay. (I was busy at work this weekend)

Now i understand it better. My main concern was that i had my system units to 1:1 inche., and I was working with my display units to cm. So if i wanted to know the distance between two objects, i could have used a expose helper (wich works in generics units) or Maxscript: "distance $box01 $box01" (wich works with generics units). But none of them will give a cm. measurement. A had big scene and i was affraid to change the System Units to 1:1 cm at that point.

I guess i will have to do the convertion every time i get a result from max script or expose helper. ( or set an expression or script controller to a Custom Attribute that already makes the convertion) Anyway i will find something.

The cool thing is that now I understand the way it works.

Thank you very much Bobo.
