Hi there! I don't know if there is really a plugin needed for this or if it is a cinema function i can't find!

I' m working out many characters right now and i' m trying to find the best way to do this! I don't really know what spline modeling is but i liked to do a modelin gatempt using slines painted over the sketch i have here!

Now describing the problem i got! I made one spline in a side view! For getting a base to make polygon i copied it! moved it a little over the X- axis! grouped them and then merged these two in one object! Now i liked to do a usual rightclick and connect the dots! But ups there i don't have the possibilities to do so 'cause i got still to splines!

Hmmm Need only to know how to have normal points there! Will connect them on my own no need of a loftNURBS there!

Any help would be great!

good question here. i also wanted to do it this way a while ago but also stuck at the problem of not being able to connect the dots. :hmm:

What I would do if you want to make the points and then connect them ilke that is make a polygon object (under the objects menu) and then just start adding points. then oyu can attatch them and oyu have alow poly model that you place in a hypernurbs object. At least if I understand right about what you are trying to do.

that's the way i did it back then. but it would be somehow cool if that would be possible with splines although i almost always boxmodelling now. :)

THX for the idea Kaiskai! No this is not the way i wanted it to do!
I understand what you mean but this is simply polygon modeling! Adding points and so on!

I liked to make like 5 splines on the X- axis and then make my base object out of this 5 splines! Using a LoftNURBS gives me a way to do it but is can't edit the original spline path anymore!

Can anyone describe what the real spline modeling means?

you can edit the original splines in a loft object... just open up the objects heirarchy in the object inspector, and select the spline you want to edit... then edit the points away to your hearts content, the loft will update in realtime... all c4d's nurbs objects operate like this

yep that's right but not the way i liked to do it!

By this i need to click trough all single splines and do the changes!
Taking time, right? No way to model with all splines at the same time? Like a polygoncage of a HyperNURBS object?
Like to have the acurate spline path i traced from an image!

Do you mean spline patching like in Lightwave or Rhino (take 3 or 4 crossing splines and apply patcher to create a surface)?

Someone told me a while ago that it might be possible to write a plugin that could do the same in C4D but i think the task has been too difficult as nothing has come up yet..

ATTN, pluginmakers! Prove me wrong!! :D
