Hey, I have a question about Cell Shading in Maya, and more specifically to contour lines. Using the Mental Ray contour features, I have been able to get great cell shading results like in the following example image:

My question is how to get an outline around the entire object, or group of objects, like you'd find in a cell shaded game where a character would be oulined from other objects and backgrounds, but smaller objects that make up that character might not be outlined from each other. An example of what I mean:

Where there's an outline around the whole thing, and either has or doesn't have outlines inside (this one does, but I'd like to know how to do both).
Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated! Thanks much
