Hello, I have a simple question to do, how I apply a planar map to the top of a mesh and another planar map to the bottom of the mesh....with standard maps only, Im trying to do this:first I put two uvw maps on the mesh, assign map channel 1 to one and map channel 2 to another, so i put a multi-sub object material, with 2 material, in the first i put one bitmap with map channel 1 assigned and to another i put another bitmap with map channel 2 assigned...isnt correct:?But dont work:p
Im using 3dsmax5
Thanx in advance:P

You need to operate on the poly or mesh object directly. Go into the ploy sub-object mode. Select the faces that you wish to map with the first UVW modifier. Assign these to Material ID 1. Then repeat for the second Material ID.
Here is a tutorial that was quite helpful to me when I was first learning this process:

Alternately you can use a Unwrap UVW modifier. Go into the face selection sub object mode within that modifier and then select faces. A little planar gizmo should show up. Hit the Planar Map button and you are ready to go. Hit the Edit button to see your UVWs. This all stays on one map channel however. This is most useful when painting your textures in photoshop.

Hope that helps!
