it's a sidegrade-offer, so not that big of a news, is it? ;)
The move, which makes the software available at a bargain price, is open to registered users of Alias Maya, Softimage|XSI, Discreet 3DS Max, Electric Image Universe, Strata Studio Pro, Maxon Cinema 4D, Calligari TrueSpace, Has Animation Master, Autodesk AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
[...]
To order, users will have to provide a copy of an invoice for their current software, plus a copy of the front cover of the manual with serial numbers, and an email with serial numbers and license codes, says NewTek.

arh of course...sounded cheap...
Hmm but most of the people in this forum use one of those softwares right? Sooo the sidegrade is a big thing now that so many people own one of these software packages.

yes, but cinema and XSI and maya all have side grade offers too, didn't this discussion just happen two weeks ago or so??

That's almost $600. Around $200 off previous sidegrades. Getting close to upgrade pricing.

it's all just laughable.
thought about making a render with the ally, dumpster that comes with BP2.
with all the fab5 apps n the most of the rest of the 3D Apps boxes that the CD's come in laying around the dumpster and a new paper reading well the 3D apps went out of business.
they did not go out of business cause of prices.
but because of the absolute lack of common since.
some got LW7 for $1000 can u imaging how pissed the ones that paid $2500 was ?
even after I got LW7 I hated the ui so bad I just used TS.
I left TS cause they made ispace, gamespace and worried about everything else other then what I cared about TrueSpace.
got Basic C4D 8.5 nGones made it none usable.9's usable.
at least C4D got some common since about the nGons but the hyperNurbs they don't hN Tri's is just brain dead.
XSI,LW hN Tri's but there UI's sux
for me it not the damn price it's what the app will do.
no app for any price has what I want.
so I am learning to code.
but the one to win the 3D Wars will not be the cheapest one
it will be the easiest, fastest one to use.
that has common since built in to it.
as far as I can tell none of the fab 5 do.

TS6.6 SP2,LW7.5c,Basic C4D 9 + BP2,
zBrush 2,Poser 5,DAZ,Visual C++.
What ever it takes to get there.

i just read a review about the new lw-update in a german mag (digital production) and it seems that it has a lot of bugs and keeps crashing. that isn't something that would make me step away from my major packages anyway

Yes. To me stability is paramount. I bought LW 6 bugs and all. Funny how nothing's seemed to change. C4d is more stable than Maya, Max, LW. Can't say about XSI.
C4D has made steady (I'd say relentless) progress and improvements, never sacrificing stability.
Worth every penny.
