View Full Version : bone controlled texture
BlueCougar 03-17-2005, 09:28 PM Is there an easy way to have the texture on an object controlled by a bone. What I was thinking of was an iris and pupil texture that moves on a cartoon eyeball that isn't round controlled by a bone that is constrained to an eye target. Just wondered. It must be possible by linking movement with texture location just wondered how some have done it.

I think you can do this with expressions attached to the Heading and pitch envelopes on your texture. I am not quite sure how well it would work but the expressions should be easy enough to setup (they would just reference the bone rotation).
There is a tutorial on Newtek's site (I think it's still there ) that gives an example of another way to do this.

Link a null to the bone
in texture, choose the null as reference object
there it is ( to see in real time , set auto-key on)

Thanks BAROBA, I was hoping there would be a simple solution for it seemed like quite a common necessity for many reasons.
