What tool/app doe you use for tonemapping.

I tried the Reinhard plugin for HDRshop but I cant get it to give good results :(
So any1 knows of a good tonemapping utility, if possible with a realtime preview or something and free :p

I'm using max btw...

Thanks

I think Artizen HDR will meet all of your requirement for HDR images. There are 5 tone mapping methods available.

-Linear Conversion
-Lock Linear
-Dynamic Range Max
-Dynamic Range Channel Max
-Reinhard

Not to mention over 27 color correction tools you can use in 32bit colors.

Maybe I'll sound like a noob, but what is tonemapping?
I know what is HDRI and I use it alot, but I have never come across a word - tonemapping.
Thanks in advance.

quoted from the artizen website:

Tone Mapping is the process by which out of range pixel values are reset into a visible display's pixel range. Ex if a color pixel in floating point is out of range for your monitor it must be converted into a value between 0 - 255.
