Hi
I have a grid of objects and i want to drive their y translation by querying the luminance values of an image so that the top left object is driven by the top left pixel etc.
I would have thought this was a fairly common thing to do but i'm not having any luck with google. My MEL is VERY limited but I presume that's the way to do it... or I thought maybe projecting an image onto the objects and using a surfLuminance?
does anyone have any ideas?
thanks

you may use the colorAtPoint commande

Thanks I'll look into it.
Did it manually for now but would really like to know how to use MEL.

- If you want a demo of using colorAtPoint, look a mapSpread.mel script here (http://ndhaussy.free.fr/maya_object_spreading_article/)

- I know there exists a shading network method to get pixel color explained in a online tutorial (on a kind of blog site)
