I have a desk that I have modeled and I am trying to apply a wood texture to the model. The problem that I am having is the texture map is 2048 x 2048 pixels. I need to change the size of the texture so that the grain in the wood will looks right. I have tried scaling down the texture in photoshop, but that does not yeld a textue which looks right as far as the grain is concerened. What I mean is like the top will be easy to get right because it is a bigger surface, but how do you get say a drawer front which is much smaller to look right as far as the grain in the texture with the same size texture??

Thanks

I can't say I know 100% what you mean until I see a sample render but it sounds like you are using a tiled texture. In any case have you have to work on the UVs. Sizing the texture in Photoshop will only change the resolution of your texture. Make sure the size of UV maps of the top and drawers are sized in relation to each other.

another problem might be your anti-alias lvl has not been set high enough.
