This is an image I did a while back. I've always liked it and I just thought I would post it and get some feedback.

Please pay no attention to the lens flare used (this was one of my first CG paintings with Photoshop).

Hey,

going to look at this both technically and artistically as well. This is a great go for a first photoshop render.

Art: I think the human figure really needs some work. There is some weird stuff going on under the breast area, and the arms are feeling really thin. I also think at that profile of the head we would see some of her nose (unless she has non which would mark it hard to smell - but when you can hold the sun in your hand maybe that is not such a biggy!)

I also think you need to pay around with the composition a little more. I think the stock standard place it in the middle can get a little boring. Think about what would be a more interesting way to frame the subject, and to get more depth in the scene. I would mark those swirls in the bottom come right out into the foreground and push her down into the back, and have a big cropped sun. Looks good in my head anyway!

I would also think about the colour, and the moment it is all starting to feel really flat. The colours are all so close (lots of the same red) that it may looks HEAPS better with other colours in the character and the hair.

Tech: Please o please ditch the lens flare!

I think a lot of the rendering, especially the highlights is making the elements feel really plastic. The highlights need to be a lighter version of the colour that it is on, not white!

The sun gradient feels very different to the rest of the picture...

I think in the bottom read swirls the orange centers need to blend into the red more slowly and smoothly.

Hope this all helps,

Michael
