hi guys,
i have got maya for 1 months...
before working in maya I have A YEAR expierence with 3ds max...

my question:

http://www.erc.msstate.edu/~camen/thehumanhead/NURBS.html

how do I connect the spline lines/curves???

how do I creat a suface onto the 4 edge lines?

Is their anybody who can tell me how ich can create a face like it is shown in the link...?

THX

Im just a newby to this all, but I guess ( so i read) you have to draw CV-lines (like in the pictures) then loft the lines, and theyll be a whole.

maybe u are right..

buit lofting is not quite a good solution for modelling a head i think

in max e.g. you have to make 4egdes (vierecke.. in german..)
with splines (= nurbs curves...)

and then you have to use the tool "surface" and every 4edges
has got a surface on it...

if you are working with nurbs you should loft the head with splines.
however, if you want to do it the max way i would just start with a poly cube and use the edit polygons->extrude polygons tool (which is the same as the tool that you are refering to in max i think).
also, if you want to make a surface with the curves that you have drawn you can use the surface->boundary tool. experiment with it a bit and you should get what you like.

as for your question on how to attach curves, you simply go edit curves->attach curves.

Maybe try this ...
let say you have 2 Curves

Select Curve1 +shift Select curve2
Edit Curves > Attach Curves (with Connnect & Keep option "on" )

Now if it aint going the way you want
( Lets say its not heading in the direction of your object tangency )

Select curve1
Edit Curves > Reverse Curve direction
( and play with the options )

Check also
Edit Curves > Rebuild Curve
( as you will be able to get rid of some CV OR add a few if you need any )

Also, I'm not pretty sure, but I think they are made with bi-rail tool. And that answers to your another question. You can create surfface for 4 lines, but remember that lines must intersect. Read more info from Maya help.
