A "new" user cannot get LW 8, Messiah Animate, and DFX+ for under $2000. The DFX+ promotion is long gone. So, if there are any takers out there, $1700 is a deal even considering that NewTek is currently selling LW for $495 to users of other applications.

Respectfully,
Roy

Not excactly true. You can get Truespace 3 for free, after that LW8 Crossgrade for 495$, Messiah for 299$ and DFX+ second hand for 500$-800$. Thatīs less than 2000$.
Or XSI and LW8 Crossgrade for 1000$, Messiah 299$ and DFX+ for 600$. Less than 2000$, too. With XSI Fnd !
What are the new features of 8.5? :D
And the DFX+ Version. Is this the version that is tied to the Lightwave dongle?

But you cannot get all of the modules (Particle Suite, Keying, etc). It's not even work arguing. If you are not interested.. that's fine.

Not true. You can get used DFX+ with modules 1,2,3,4,6 and 7 for 800$ or less. I have.
So if you say you canīt get that bundle for less than 2000$, itīs not necessarily true.

This is no personal attack.
I think the offer is ok, could be littl less maybe.
Itīs just that you say you canīt get this for less than 2000$ that bugs me.
And some more information about the tools would be nice.
Lightwave with printed manuals or just pdf? Is the DFX+ the Promo pack thatīs tied to the LW Dongle?

I don't want to mess up with you , but just point taht it might too expensive.

Who is your target? newbies, expert?

For 3d people, they might have Maya, XSI, Max and some might even have the compositor. Why they need all of your stuff.

For beginners, spendingthat much and the other next two-three years to learn all software you offer? By the time they get used to the workflow, those guys need to upgrade to the new version.

I think it would be easy if you sell them seperately. DFX+ would be tough if the dongle tight to LW. You might need to be hornest by giving it for free the same as when you got it and charge only the other modules.
Also, like used cars, you have been using those software for a while, and you might get much money out of them. That thing needs to be accounted for.

Good luck,

Guys,

One way or another I need to sell. What is the package worth to you? Like I said, It is a Full version of Lightwave 8.5 for Windows with a USB key, a full version of Messiah:Animate 5.1 with a USB key, and a full version of DFX+ 4.5 with Modules 1,2,3,4,6,7.

I have the original LW 7 box and CD's, I have the LW 8 upgrade pack CD's, I have the original Messiah CD's, and I have the original DFX+ box and CD's. It's all legit and full versions.

The DFX+ did come with my LW 8 upgrade. Regardless of how I got it, I am looking to get a reasonable price for the three. I am not interested in getting retail for them. If you guys have an idea of what you would be willing to pay, I am more than willing to listen.

Thanks for the spirited exchange.

Roy,

I would say I have no idea what I would pay. But, if I were you I would itemized them and ask for money for each package. Also, I would post LW with it price on LW forum or Newtek, and vice versa.
Seperate the packe with each price and seperately, post on it related forum.

Good luck,

I'm surprised that everyone's getting on your back about this.....Generally speaking if I think somethings too expensive I'll just go elsewhere:D.

I didn't think it was too badly priced untill you mentioned that it is LW7.0 with an upgrade. I'm looking to get both Lightwave & Messiah Studio Workstation by the end of the month, here's how much it's gonna cost me:

Lightwave 8, with pdf docs, content cd's & tutorial book Ģ295. I'm "upgrading" from my free version of Truespace. It also includes a free upgrade to the 64bit version when it is released.

Messiah:Studio workstation, Ģ160'ish plus import tax. The workstation version includes all the features of animate except the LW plugin but has the render section.

.....soooo.....if I add that all together & add a bit for import taxes that comes to about Ģ400 (probably less)....$770!

that makes the cost of DFX+ $930.....not much of a deal really is it?

[EDIT] as you can see I'm not much of a math expert:sad:

It's crap when you work out how much you've paid for stuff & how much it's worth, that's why software piracy is so common & why people learning to use software usually have more up-to-date versions than many studios....because studios can't get away with using cracked software....Joe Public usually can.
Why not stick it on an auction site & see what you get? Put a reserve on it & hope that someone gets carried away:D

And you shouldnīt forget that the DFX+ version has a limitation. If itīs tied to the LW dongle, you canīt sell it seperately (at least not without some (financial) effort) and that decreases its resale value in comparison to the standard 1295$ version.
So 500$ + 300$ + 500$ = 1300$, thatīs a more realistic price. Not to forget that the software is second hand.
Maybe you would get the most out of it by selling it on ebay?!

Thanks for the input. I figured that people on this forum would better understand the value of the software and most likely be a better customer than on eBay. But eBay is an idea too. I am not opposed to selling the package for well below my original asking price. The original price was simply a starting point for me and a discussion piece for others.

$1100 for everything is reasonable for me.

Is that a better deal?

Roy
