Got a question...ok, im a newbie, so dont laugh.

I am trying to model a lamp, computer monitor, and a desk. I got the computer and desk...but a question about the lamp and kinda a general modeling question.

I have includes a picture of my lamp (dont laugh :) ) But, ok, when you have two object, that well you cant loft, or planar, how do you connect them? like the arms, and the joints on the lamp. How do i connect objects like that, so, when i animate them, they move right? I just Intersected Surfaces, but, i assume thats wrong.

I know this is kinda vauge, and probabbly stupid, but, i really have NO idea. I appreciate your help. Thanx...

Once you draw the bones (joints) in the lamb , you parent the pieces of the lamp to the bones (default hotkey "p"). they'll move with the bones after that.

so does that mean the intersect surfaces will work?

and like, when you start doing really fine detail stuff, how does it connect to other objects...just set it there??

intersecting surfaces has nothing to do with attaching them together.

If you want multiple pieces to act as a whole , you can just hit ctrl-g and group them.

Looking at the image you posted , i dont see any need to combine the surfaces together (as in making them one object). just lay the bones and parent the geometry to them , it should do the trick.

than you can move the bones around and the lamb will fallow suit.
