Title: Office Girl
Name: Andrew Hickinbottom
Country: United Kingdom
Software: 3ds max

Using my previous Bunny Girl character as a base, I made a variation of her in ordinary business clothes. She will be used in an animated short I have planned.
Made in 3Ds Max 6, rigged with biped, lit with a combination of skytracer (Global illumination) and 3 point lighting.

Your work is just flawless, i find it fantastic.

Sorry i couldn't give a more educated comment but the image is just perfect.

By the way, the vertical line running down her stocking, very sexy touch.

Cheers for the replies folks. I know its a bit cheap posting a redress of a character i did previously, but i actually prefer office girl to bunny girl - shes got more character and detail.

Fade - Glad you like the old-fashioned seamed stockings - i got the inspiration from the ace cover pic for the film 'secretary', as well as 'other' images :D

Ymqworks - the skirt is just sharing the envelope between the pelvis, lower spine, and the 2 thighs. To Make the skirt fold over when the legs are crossed, i cheated and modeled it to fit. When it comes to animating it, ill probably use a dynamic cloth simulator.

Posh - I plan to make the nerdy office guy next. See my WIP thread for my idea and scenario. If i get bored with him, i might make a test animation of office girl like i did with my bunny girl recently. In the meantime, im just gonna take a break, catch up on some sleep, and think hard about the definitive plotline for my short.

Florian - Hmm... I think a strip club is a bit sordid for bunny girl - the appeal of her is that shes sexy, but not sexist or demeaning (i hope). I kinda agree with the hair comment - some pics look better than others, but compared to the incredibles hair (actual dynamic strands) its a bit plasticky.

Guillom - Id like to make the other variations of her like bikini girl, cheerleader, nurse etc, but they wouldnt fit into my short film idea. Unless i do a series of them where theres a different dream sequence in each episode.... hmmm......
I want to make a short film instead of a bunch of still images, so i think ill press on with the 3rd character and the office environment.

Fattersyf - soon.... soon... Im working on it.

The incredibles is coming out on DVD this friday, so it should hopefully give me a massive boost of inspiration to get crackin with me animation!

Hi Andy

5 stars from me

Really nice - only 2 thoughts - why not make her brunette? It might give her a different look to the Bunny Girl and her skirt in the sitting pose looks odd.

As a person that wears a skirt :D every now and again, they bunch up in different ways (which is why you always see women in the office adjusting their skirts when they stand up).

But, once again, another great model!

Let's see her on the frontpage - it makes a change from concept art & sc-fi babes!

hey, that's a really cool model. i like it better than the characters from the incredibles (that is the style you're kinda going for right?). she's got more class. so is she going to be busness woman by day and bunny girl by night? or are those supposed to be two separate characters?

i was wondering for you rig if you are using a cloth simulation for the skirt or if you're just working with physique to make it magically blend well especially in the shot where she's got her legs crossed.

Wonderfull work - from the proportions - till to the posing. Even the prolonged legs on the right are a masterfull touch. Excellent achievement of personality. It reminds me of the 60s Disney models - you not just mastered to recreate disneys mastery, but also to keep your own style.

Congratulations - PIXAR is you place.

Hey Andy,

Great work as usual. Far as the other versions idea goes, maybe you're short could be a series pilot instead. Then the opening titles could have all the variations in different situations, montaged ala Charlies Angels (the series, not the movie). Looking up seductively from a martini, jogging in the park, pointing a gun at a bad guy, skydiving, whatever. Be a great little showcase for the reel...

Keep it coming

Again: Just like the bunny girl, I love the style. I'm almost fed up with people modeling perfectly accurate humanoid models. I think more people should be trying to find a fun style that they like. The only thing I can think of to comment on is that I'm not too fond of the shader for the stockings. Usually, nylon stockings tend to have a slight falloff effect, being lighter head on, and darker as they wrap around the leg. But the shader you have on it right now almost makes it look like her legs are made of plastic.

Overall, I think that this is going to be an excellent short, and I wait in great anticipation for it.

......oh yeah, let's not forget the requisite: DAMN SHE'S SEXY!!! WOOOO!!!

..ahem. Good work.

Cheers very much for all the comments - it was a nice surprise to see it moved into the choice gallery too!

After watching the incredibles DVD this weekend, im looking forward to animating her - seeing the bits with mirage and the outstanding facial animation on everyone has given me a big kick up the behind in the inspiration department!

Tracy - Glad you liked it. I actually did a few tests with her as a brunette, and it looked good, but the bright blonde hair was one of the most recognisable things about her, so to change her hair colour might be a little too much. And i agree with the skirt, but it looks satisfactory considering that theres no cloth simulation on it (yet). Hows WarDevil going?

Nuclearbum - Office girl and bunny girl are both the same woman - the bunny girl is either a daydream version of her, or her other job - im not sure yet. Im still working on the plot for my film. The whole thing is skinned using max's skin modifier. No cloth plugin yet, but ill consider it for the animation.

Obelisk - Great idea you have there! I want to try the different costumes i have planned sometime, and that sounds like a good oppurtunity. Its a lot of work though. Ill stick with the office scenario for now - who knows, i may expand it to include other lifestyles!

Fungus - Yeah, the shader for the stockings was hard to do. There is actually a falloff shader in the diffuse channel, but if i made the edges too dark, the legs as a whole look too dark. Getting the sheen on them was even harder. I used an anisotropic shader to get the specular to fall in long lines.

Ive made a start on the office nerd guy - take a look:

Good to see her make the Choice Gallery

You have no excuses now - you have to make the short film!:)

WarDevil is progressing well - we're on our Easter Vacation at the moment (we get real holidays at Digi-Guys).

I'll be starting another recruiting round soon (it never seems to stop!) - all the construction is finished at the Ealing Studio now - so there's going to be a lot of work when we get back!

But enough of that - how about some more renders of the Office Girl - all the boys seem to like her - I think it's love - so you need to keep them happy!

Bye for now.

Just a small suggestion, the deformation in her elbows seem to be a little off, maybe play with the skin morph modifier. I only noticed it because everything else is so flawless.

Have you considered rigging your Office Girl & Bunnny Girl up for Curious Labs' Poser? I'm sure there are literally hundreds of Poser users that'll be willing to purchase your model and pay for add-ons! This could make you a pretty penny!

Or maybe you could a deal with deal with DAZ (www.daz3d.com (http://www.daz3d.com)) similar to that which they made with Kim Goosen's GIRL. Check out the DAZ website for an example of an industry that can set up based on one toon character.

Best of luck!

Oooh. Sexy. She's got awfully small feet though- seems a bit disproportional... and I know that follows along the style of the image- but, still, somebody with that thin and ankle and small a foot wouldn't survive in heels.

This lady seems to be alive even if she's not animated yet ^_^. I really like this cartoonish style. I think that the general design is too close from the incredibles (you're were talking about mirage, and yeah, your inspiration is obvious :) ). But this is so incredebly well done, in all the artistic and technical aspect... :buttrock:

Echoing everyone else, the style and cheery cute gorgous nature of her is brilliant. The hair is the only thing I'd flaw, but hell - you can't compare this to the incredibles, they had big budget renderer's surely and loads of time. for a small project, I think your quids in with the simple hair line and quick(?) render times.

Ace job, inspirational.

Well said - the hair could be better as proper, simulated hair strands, but after seeing the incredibles dvd commentary and hearing brad bird talking about how tough the hair and cloth was, it made me appreciate how damn complex it is to get right. And yeah, the render times are pretty fast considering.

Personally I was a bit worried where the giant egg came from - did you slim some weight off her hips? :D

I was just checking her proportions against the main characters from the incredibles - you've given her much sleeker legs that don't distort much at the knees. The incredibles' characters have really comic proportions in comparison to her - and I like your's better. I did wonder why they made them so extreme whilst pumping 'realism' into everything else in their movie (jungle, water, city, etc.)

Yup. She is actually office girl, but the bunny girl is how the office nerd (see the link in my signature) sees her in a daydream he has.

Office girl, bunny girl and office nerd are all characters for the short im working on at the moment.

The model looks really slick, it's considerably low poly too. The shading is very stylish, both the hair and cloth looks nice. I luv the glasses, it makes the office lady feel so stront!

Awesome work. This really makes me want to try my hand at some character work.

You planning on working for playboy at some point? (you could probably get some private live modelling sessions ;))

I love this model because it has a pleasant 2D quality to it. I love 2D cartoon characters and interpreting them into 3D. If thats what you set out to do then it works very well. Great job. :)

Simply incredible! Your use of lighting is great, and I can't seem to find anything worth critiquing. I can't wait to see the "Office Nerd." Keep up the excellent work!

A fantastic model Andy. Is this bunny girl in the day job, then..?

She's so foxy. And she's pushing the buttons that Bunny Girl missed. And that wasn't many. I had a fling with a bank worker when i was 17 and she reminds me a lot of her. Good on ya!! The problem with working in the games industry is there's so few 'office girls' to oggle...

(And thanks for sticking me on your links page! I'll return the favour next time i update! I love your 3D models!)

Cheers mister duddle (i just love that surname!)
I really want to get on with this short film ive got planned - its just too much hard work at the moment!
As for office ladies - i know what you mean :D - but theres plenty on the train of the morning!
Strangely enough though, it was mirage (from incredibles) in her brief cameo in her office clothes that inspired this.

Good point... trains are great for appreciating the lovely british office girl. I used to get the train when i worked at Warthog. But i was on my bike, and smelly and sweaty and covered in oil and wearing shorts (even in Winter), so i think they worried i'd scuff their briefcases with my derailleur... or snag their stockings with my pedals... sigh...

A short film sounds interesting. Although no matter how 'short' a short film, i know they can be mind-blowingly time consuming.

(And just to add... the incredibles is just such and incredible film)

I like the character design quite a bit. The pantyhose texture gives the whole thing an almost fetishistic pin-up quality that is great. Well done.

This is really state of the art, and I would love to see a movie taking shape with this lady as the main actress. Should be a sexy and funny movie. Maybe something for Pixar. Let her do some auditions there, maybe she can show up in The incredibles 2?

Wow. Great wire, great textures, great lighting. And I LOVE the gestures. So animated and alluring. Will we be seeing an animation, such as this :bounce:? After all, bunnies do bounce.

This is great work! Wish I could do more work like that, 'tis still a journey for me.

BTW, I almost never use smileys when I post. Congrats! :applause:

Hey Andrew

Love your style, Been looking at dif models and yours really sticks out.
Got some questions:
Have you had any luck with the dynamic clothing?
Also, are the heels part of th main geometry? How is this rigged?

When I first began character modeling your character work was very inspirational. There is a fun element that can be found in every model that you do.
