Hello,

How can I animate a falling and on the ground breaking column.
I need this Animation to export an anim-File to get the translate-infos for a Game. So I think it must work with keyframing.

Knows someone the best way to do this ?

Thanks for help

Usually, this type of thing would be done in game with simple physics, but if you need to can the animation, there's a couple things you can do.

Animate by hand (tedious), or use Maya's dynamics. Once you have the rigid body dynamics set up on your pillar and it's various chunks, and the sim runs the way you want it to look, you can key the rigid bodies and bake the dynamics sim. Search the dynamics help file for "Converting Rigid Body Animation to keys".

Use Dynamics > Effects > Create Shatter, to break the collumn up into pieces. Then just do what Mcronin said and use dynamics for the rest.
