Title: Erik Larsen's Savage Dragon!
Name: Dk Crame
Country: Philippines
Software: BodyPaint, LightWave 3D, Photoshop

I enjoyed Erik Larsen's comic book The Savage Dragon. This was a head that was completed a while ago, but I decided to try and re-render it using Lightwave 8's new aliasing options, rendering time was reduced by almost 300%!! Not bad for a still!!

The head was modelled in Lightwave 7.5, Photoshop was used for the eyes and some bump maps, everything else was done using weight maps and procedurals. I lighted it 'ala Kevin Nowlan's work in comic books.

Thanks for viewing!

hey milivoj thanks, glad you liked it. Lights are just a spotlight with raytraced shadows for the key, and a point light for the fill.

I was trying to give a more of an "illustration" -type feel with the lighting. :)

Your skin shader makes the character look like he's made of hard plastic, but your modeling is great!

Thanks for the replies and the critiques, I have to agree the eyes and the skin shader do need work :) !

Hey oktopus, he does look a bit like Mr. T, that's a good idea I'll email this to Mr. Larsen...
