View Full Version : Organize Brushes in CS??
Turbo_ 03-15-2005, 02:25 AM I was wondering if there was any was to organize your brush packs, like into folders sortof. So i could have a seperate window for grunge, abstract etc...(like when you have a brush and you rightclick then press the > button and it lists all installed brush packs) I currently have too many packs and they dont all fit on my screen... I dont want to combine packs to all one big topic either because that would make it impossible to find the brush i want. Any help please??
Thank you :)

I'm not 100% certain about this, because i've never tried it... but i don't think that's possible; yet. It would definately be nice to have though.
Anyone else know anything about this?

Nope.
And that didn't work for me either when i first tried it back in PS7.
Hopefully Adobe will address this in the coming versions.

you could organize your brushes into sets that you can then load through actions
so you order your brushes so you only have "brush set 1" in your brushes palette. save this set of brushes. then organize set 2, 3 etc.
then just record actions that replace your current brushes with these new sets. works for me, anyways :)
all the best

You can save as a set. Just append all the groups of brushes that contain brushes you want in a (new) set, then right click and delete the ones you don't want in that set. When you have your list the way you want it click the little triangle and "Save Brushes", then give it a happy new name. You can do this from the preset manager as well. By the way, the original brushes will not be deleted from their original .abr UNLESS you save them under the same filename, and they can still be restored later even if you do.

I thought about doing that, but then i have to search through the brushes themselves and that would drive me insane... but thanks.
And to the actions thing.. i dont know how to use the actions stuff in PS.

Yep, it can be a pain. Once it's done though you'll likely find that you only need a few brushes that you use often, the rest you can load when needed. It's easy to get caught up in the tech and spend more time dinking with software than actually creating something.

I actually took like an hour yesterday and grouped and deleted brushes. It was a good idea. Now I can download many more brushes :) Thanks for the suggestion.
