I am pleased to announce, Ideality, the latest movie by Unique View Motion Pictures and CCFilms. Production on this movie has been going on since Fall 2004, but we are need attempting to get the word out about this movie.

This film is not a production of CCFilms, but is being assisted by CCFilms. The main production, filming, editing, ect. are all being done by Unique View Motion Pictures. Unique View Motion Pictures is run by Ian Hubert (mrdodobird on CGTalk), creator of Echoes and CGI genius. CCFilms' (producers of Armed Conflict and No Greater Love) part in this production is music composition.

What I'm gonna use this thread for is just to give monthly or so updates on the movie and whatnot (if you want more frequent updates and pages upon pages of info on this film, check out "TheBRB.com" here: Ideality Forum (http://thebrbforums.com/index.php?showforum=20)This page has A TON about the CG done for this movie).

Really, what I just wanna get the word about is both the production forum from TheBRB (above) and the offical website for Ideality here: Ideality (http://ideality.ccfilms.com)

Check it out. I'm not really gonna say any more about this movie. Those two websites speak for themselves. Let me just say one thing, this movie is going to AWESOME! I seriously can not wait until it's done. It's gonna have great visual effects, awesome story, acting, editing, music. This movie is really gonna rock. So check out the websites (you can use Ideality.tk if you want as well). It's gonna be a great ride.

Hey! I'm Ian, one of the main "Ideality People's".

Yeah. I got a question. See, we have a five legged spider (http://thebrbforums.com/index.php?showtopic=267)....

But the thing is, I have NO idea how to create a walk cycle for a five legged creature! So far, I've been lucky in that I've been able to just kinda have him "shuffle" (here's an example (http://thebrbforums.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=11155)), you know, have him move his legs when needed, but for some later parts we need to actually have him walking. (well, him and a bunch of others. It'll be a blast. Crazy Spider Robots, taking over a city. Fun, eh?)

But yeah, if any of you have any suggestions at all as to how to move it's legs... I'm kinda lost!

A five-legged spider, eh? Interesting... you do realize that mother nature didn't make too many five-legged walking organisms to keep them from falling over, right? It's just a balance issue... but I think it could be done. If you think of a walk cycle of an ant (it's got six legs), the basic pattern calls for the front leg to move, the middle to then cross, and as the front leg is moving back again, the back leg crosses the middle leg. (a basic 1-2-3 count) Your biggest issue is gonna be timing the two-legged side with the three-legged side, but I think if you gave it kinduva limp, you might work it out.

On the two-legged side, you'll have to picture the middle leg being missing, and stagger the movement of the front leg so it's not off balance. So after the middle leg moves on the 3-leg side, leave the front leg of the 2-side down as long as you can before landing the back leg forward and throwing the front one up fast to catch up with the momentum again. It'll have a sorta gangster-lean walk to it, but it's got a good excuse since it's missing a leg.

Only other option I could think of is to maybe use a more fluid walk based off a starfish, since it's the only thing I can think of with five legs. Unfortunately, you're back to the scuffle-ish walk, since starfish do more gliding than walking.

(my apologies if that made no sense whatsoever... if I can think of a better way to explain it, I'll sketch out some leg positions and see if it helps. good luck with the project!)

make him move alittle slower, it'll make him more epic. also alittle camera shake for the steps couldn't hurt.

Hey! Thanks for the suggestions! I most certainly used them. :)

In fact, you can see a couple in the trailer we finally finished... Trailer. (http://www.thebrb.com/theater/films/ideality/)Sadly, they're pretty quick shots.
