View Full Version : Problems with paint skin weights tool

I'm now setting up my characters which are modelled using subdivision surfaces.

I encoutered a problem during rigging.

After I bind the skin to the skeletons using smoothing bind, I tried to refine it using the paint skin weights tool. But then the skin seems detached from the skeleton. Though the skin is still bound, but when i rotated the joint to test it, the skin stay in its original position (just like I haven't bound it at all!).

Do anyone meet this problem before??

I'm not so familiar with subdivision surfaces..hope someone can help me..

Are you binding the subD's directly to the skeleton?
If so you should probably think about using a wrap deformer made out of polygons. That way you can turn off the subD's and paint the weights on the polys, defrom the plolywrap, and then turn subd's on to see what the deformation looks like without the slowing things down alot.
