I decided to give a try to zbrush but after watching some tutorials I feel more and more stupid. I was trying to model something with zsphere and this part I got but then when I was trying to make on surface some bump or something, I coudn't get back to model and was creating just new geometry.I guess I still don't get how this work how I can go back and forth from modeling to texturing and so.Uh I think I will get back to 3dsmax I'm too old for this zbrush thing I guess. :banghead:

Use projection master (Top left top bar) this will allow you to paint on the object. Then use projection master to pick the object up, then you can continue editing.

thanks=) it's working but...it didn't mapped geometry correctly because there is visible seam.

z-brush is a very powerfull app! However if you are like me and are used to other applications it can be confusing. One thing that really helps is to do as many tutorials as you can. If you had done this then you would know how to use the projection master and how to avoid seams.

I couldnt do without ZB it allows me to add lots of detail quickly and intuitively that would take ages to model.

I am also extremely old :buttrock:

Kanga I'm starting to get how it's working, just one more thing..when I create spherinder3d and then gear3d, there is now way to get back to rotate spherinder3d right? exept is I create them on layers? ANd what if by mistake I start modeling with zsphere and then by mistake create another zphere, I will lost my earlier model right? I won't be able to edit it again?

Your 3d model will be in the tools palette, you can clear the canvas if you want, select the tool and draw a new copy of your object and then before you do anything else you switch to edit mode and you can continue working on your model. The tool palette is also where you save and export your 3d models as saving just the document isn't enough. (it just saves the 2.5D canvas)

With ZBrush there is at most one 3d object active at a time, the rest is a 2.5D canvas.

What might help you out is to look at the help topic (Markers and Multimarkers). Markers allow you to accomplish what you are talking about.

Also the Gnomen DVDs by Meats Meier helped me out alot.

The Z-Brush practical guide (downloadable pdf from their site) is also a must.

I just use zb as a detailing and texture map program as z spheres don't give me the edge flow I want. Just import an object made in 3DMax, store Morph Target and you are away!
