Hi guys,

Well I`m interested to get the Nicon D70 D-SLR camera.
The reason is, I want to use it to create HDR images.
I heard that, their AF DX Fisheye 10.5mm / 2.8 G Lens is a very good one
( minimize Chrom. Aberration,
full frame 180 degree photograph)

My question is,
is it worth it, to buy this camera, so I can use it with this specific lens?
I couple people I know, told me its a good camera,
but they dont use it for hdr images.
So I`d like to hear a few recommendations from people
they use cameras to create hdr images.

Should I invest in this combination?
Is it worth it?
Do you recommend something else? (besides the spheronVR)
Thanks in Advance.

I have that camera and that lens. It is good, especially if you also have Nikon Capture software that can correct for fisheye distortion. I would say that the 10.5mm lens has high chromatic aberrations (maybe they say they are "low" compared to other fish-eye lenses that are equally wide, I couldn't make that comparison myself because it is my only fish-eye, but compared to regular lenses I think there is a high degree of CA.)

Try the forums at www.dpreview.com for a Nikon D70 forum and a Nikon SLR Lens Talk forum.

I'd also take a look at the Canon 20D. I bought one recently and am very pleased with it. Another thing to bear in mind is that there is a lot of exposure falloff on a fish-eye lens, often as much as a stop from the centre to the edge, which you have to correct for if you want useful HDR data. For this reason, amongst others, I prefer the chrome ball approach, though Framestore-CFC use the fish-eye method (with Canon cameras and Sigma lenses). Each to their own.

And Jeremy is dead right, take a look at www.dpreview.com but beware of the forums. Canon vs Nikon debates on their forums bear an uncanny resemblance to Mac vs PC debates here if you know what I mean...

All the best,

Andrew

Thanks for the Info Jeremy.
I just read a simillar post from you here,
regarding CA .
I am heading to dpreview for more investigation.

Thanks Andrew as well for your comments.
I suppose you guys are using the F4 EX lens....among others.

I wish i could go for spheronVR but my budget is lower.

Anyways, thans again for the comments.
If you have more suggestions/toughts, please let me know.

well it seems that i get mixed opinions from the users over dpreview.
However, few people, noted that, a nice setup whould be
an AF DX Fisheye lens with the Canon 20D using an adapter
from these guys (http://www.novoflex.de/html_d/index_d.htm) .
some people said that the sigma lens has a lot of CA
and the nikon lens looks better.
I`m going to visit a local Nikon reseller this week
to check the lens.
I do however have to see, if the above combination works,
or its just a hypothetical suggestion.
