I am using Jannis' new inertia/follow xpression. It works great thanks for sharing that Jannis.

What i would like to do is switch from the nulls being out of a hierarchy to nulls being in a hierarchy. So then i could use CDIKrotator expression to control the rotation.

This way i would have a nice secondary motion when i want it and a mechanical motion when i need it.

Is there anyway to do this with a link list or something?

Also i would like to setup an xpression to switch a spline from b-spline to bezier and back.

Hi , I can help you with the spline XPresso.
Get SplineTyper (http://homepage.mac.com/tcastudios/Cinema/019SplineTyper.c4d.zip) .
It's a part of the SteadyCAM venture. The only thing to think of is to never leave the
linkfield empty. then it won't work, it breaks.

As for the inertia thing I don't really get what you want but it sounds as either
you simply animate the stiffnes in Jannis setup or you might use
NullyBoy (http://homepage.mac.com/tcastudios/Cinema/001NullyBoyandDoc.zip) to have objects being refered to outside a hierachy.

Wow thanks tcastudios, those are definately going to come in handy. That spline typer is exactly what i was looking for.

I've attached two pics i would like to make an expresion that switches between the two automatically.

I don't think it's possible to move things in and out of hierarchies using xpresso.
You'will need to have two different setups, one of each and then switching references.
That is one of the setups drives a third "Target setup".
It won't be a general rig I'd guess. It must be made for what you want to actually happen.

Thanks that makes a lot of sense. I basically have the nulls attached to a spline which is not in a hierarchy. So i want some way to switch between the two.

I understand what you are saying. Yet i am not sure how i would go about this. Is that where the NullyBoy xpression comes into play?

Would there be anyway to add a Slave Bone position in that xpresso?

I'm sorry but (for me) the intention you have for what you need to do is to thin....
The only part I think I get is, you need to have the option to have a bone setup -behave- as it is either in a hierachy or not, using a On/Off function.
That is per se not a big problem. The problem is what would you like to happen if you do something with any(?) of these bones.
You also mentioned CDIK (I know nothing about it) but it might mean you are using Tip and/or Root Target Tags. These Tags are refering to Target Nulls. Those Nulls are perhaps the Nulls at your Spline?
If so, those are the objects you would most likely have to attack. These Nulls you can either put into NullyBoy in various ways or make your own xpresso behaviours.
And somewhere here you insert the Jannis inertia thingy. Having "Driver nulls" move "Driven Null" that in turn drives the Rigs Target Nulls.

No real answer I'm afraid but give an example of what should actually happen when you do what and we might get closer.

Cheers
Lennart
