View Full Version : Does LW Have Construction History
Kaiser_Sose 09-22-2002, 04:30 AM I was watching some of the videos from the XSi promotion cd and one thing out of several cool features was a constuction history
Does LW have something like this
Is it the scene editor
Lets sy you beveled out some polygons and then you move on to the other side of the model and work on that, you at any time can open up the construction history and change the values of the previous bevel, you can even lock the value in
Another cool thing was beveleing in patterns ... when you bevel or extrude you can select from a variety of patterns like diamond

MAX has a construction history, trust me, it is a resource hog. In LW just save out you modeling at each major change in the modeling process in case you have to review.

Go to Luxigones.com - u will find ALL LW construction history :)
To be serious Lizard Head right - construction history = resource eater.
Fortunately and unfortunately LW don't have construction history. But u can recreate object creation by hitting "n" and activating the last used settings - works for most tools.

Thats true and is very handy too but with the example I gave constrcion history would be really nice
Another cool thing I saw the contruction history can do is with conjunction with a script editor ou can make scripts of modeling steps and even whole entire models or scenes
Basically you would copy and paste everything in the construction history in to the script editor hit execute and your script is made
Talking about tutorials ... this might even be better than video tutorials ... load up a script and watch the model being built on the screen

Well I dont know about a constructino history but what I want is a Non Linear Editor in modeler (its part implemented in layout with the motionmixer) In soft and xsi you can extrude a disk down a line to make a wibbly long cilinder (wire?) and then move the points on the line to change the shape of the extruded wire.

LW has the tools to do this ... Rail Extrude but I am sure there is others and better too scripts around

With rail extrude you have to re extrude each time you change the background layer rail. I'd like it to update automatically, even if I'm weeks further into the project, ah well its nice to dream:)
