lordmachuca 03-13-2005, 02:58 AM this was originally for the contest, but I kinda lagged on it and started texturing to late.
so far I have most of the upper body textured, except for a few things, hat, and a strap I think. I want this to end up in my demo reel. ANY critique is welcome, as to how to make it stronger or whatever. I'm in the process of texturing the weapons at the moment....http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/losmm/12114843.jpg

Very nice dude, I really liked it when it was in the comp, and I still like it now. I was wondering how big your texture map(s) are :)

I'lll go ahead all the other stuff in a minute. The texture limitations I went with were the contest limitations, the body is a 1024, and the other stuff is in two seperate 512. They were pretty generous with the the textures the gave us.
thanks for the comments.
the texture are still WIP, I want to finsh this today though.

Looking good Lord M. Glad to see you're finishing this fella up.
I love the stylised texture work so far. Although I like the simplicity of the face texture, I still think it could do with a little more detail, or perhaps be made a touch lighter to clarify the detail that's already there.
They could definitely have used you on Red Dead Revolver.
Keep it coming

Hey lordmachuca great work here I really like it, you've got great character in this piece and I love all his bullets, belts and packs. the whole model has great 'character' to it! You've also done a great job on his coat, it works really well with everything strapped around it. One thing I'd suggest is making his t-shirt a bit more bright white, back in them days i'm sure their tops where pretty dull and dirty but I think a bit more contrast to it might enhance the look?! Weapons look awesome and I only image the cool poses you can do with him and these guns!
Two things i'm not keen on are firstly his hands, I think the model is weakest here and it looks like youve rushed this part of the process which is strange as everything else looks spot on. Also personally I'm into textures with a bit more difference of material, at the moment your whole character looks like its the same material. Like theres no real different how youve rendered skin, clothes, wood and leather! I think if the different material stood out more it would add alot but also its a style thing and at the moment the way you have it still works.
Can't wait to see more, keep it up and great work!

Yeah, he would have been great for Red Dead Revolver mod if i were on the PC. And especially since that game was made using Maya. And if that jacket was supposed to be leather, it looks awesome. He would be someone I'd kill in that game...

keeganb_2000-- great critique man, thats exactly what I was looking for man. your right about the textures. I'll play around with with those and see what I come up with.
the hands. it will come together as soon as they're textured, hopefully.
thanks again for the critique.

Hey, Lord, are you planning on using blendshapes for this character? I observed the face on the model and it looks like you can use blendshapes on it. He would look intimidating with a snarl or a sneer.
DO you by any chance have red dead revolver...?

Wouldn't a gun fighter mod be cool for another game art challenge? And yes Red Dead revolver does Kick ass. I think that game is way under rated.

I think I made a big mistake.......
I got a copy of Z Brush now I cant put the damn thing down. I was on it all day yesterday, its so ****ing badass. I probably would have finished the texture yesterday if it weren't for that. heres a small up date.
left to do
-hands
-face detail
-pants
-sash
-spurs.
-a final detail pass
I think I should get this done by today...
