I know you can script one out but his looks really cool

Could write shaders in C if you wanted to.

You can also get quite powerful with Darktree 2.0

I love it for creating procedural textures with no programming.

Mmm....DarkTree 2.0. And the LightWave plugin integrates superbly.

Mmm....Tweaks!!

In all seriousness Kaiser --

you ought to check out Darktree 2.0 if you haven't.

I was going to code my own, but then I found this.

So I kept my hair.

I was playing around with it and I created these two rocky textures but are they procedural textures or image based textures

I am confused because they look like regular textures but I thought DT was a shader maker

procedural all the way

not to confuse you but... you can use an image as an input parameter to manipulate the procedurals in darktree - a very kewl feature.

One thing i must say about Dark Tree is that I hate the interface.

I think they need to make it more like the existing procedurals, plus they need to list the procedurals as opposed to making you go and find them in "load".

The other thing was that it took AGES for me to work out what files go with the shader and the procedural.

But its free so who am I to complain.:p

Just to clarify, Darktree is NOT free. Simbiont is a collection of free shaders made with Darktree that IS free.

See http://www.darksim.com for details.

Darktree is great, but it's $479.00. Just take a look at the gallery over there, some really nice stuff.

darktree's interface is not ideal but gets really close. The power the program gives you is increddible.

I agree, a more resolution/monitor independant UI would be great a bit in the vein of the one on that site you mentioned.

It is useable as it stands though.

Cheers

What I did was apply it to a flat polygon and zoom the camera at it and rendered off an image ... I guess in this case you can use it as a texture map

I will tell you what I really like

I dont know if you have ever worked with Cinema but their SLA and Bhodinut shaders are top notch

I wish they were also ported to LW
