View Full Version : Adjusting speed of the cameras??

Hello, I've set up a camera and it's just doing a basic move from one keyframe to another.
Now, using the different curves, like slow in and slow out, linear... those kinds of things, I can get the camera to do these.
But what do I do when I want more control over the speed at which it takes to slow down, or cushion? I think I'm supposed to use the function curves but how exactly do I use these?
RGB corresponds to XYZ, fine but which curve do I modify to adjust the spped? Do these graphs represnet speed/time?

Anyway, any help or pointers to tutorials would be much appreciated.

The velocity is simply the distance travelled ( as shown at the side of the graph in trackview)over the amount of keys used as depicted in the time line at the bottom. To adjust the rate of acceleration between keyframes you can use the different types of tangents.. i.e linear is straight a-b , ease in , ease out etc. Max has a very good online help system, refer to the section ..key info..bezier controllers. If using different tangents isn't enough to control what you want you simply add additional keys to between your start and end points to adjust those curves. To insert additional keyframes use either the timeline in the viewports or find the insert key icon at the top of trackview. In trackview if you right click on a key you can ring up a window with the bezier types as well as all numerical info. :)

Select function curves from the toolbar in Trackview and then select the controller that you would want to alter the curve of (in this case, position). That will be the curve you want to edit.

You can hide the others by going to function curves and selecting the controllers you don't want to edit with Ctrl held down (V.annoying since in Max, Ctrl is "add to selection" - once again, classic Discreet!).

I think the curve should be black btw... but not 100%

Hope this is what u were after,

:D
